Halloween should be spooky, but your pet’s night doesn’t have to be. 👻🐾

Candy within paw’s reach, uncomfortable costumes, a constantly opening front door, and tempting decorations can all put a damper on the Halloween fun.

A few simple precautions can help keep your pet safe, comfortable, and out of trouble while you enjoy the festivities. 🎃🧡

Swipe through for a few ways to help your pet have a safe and happy Halloween!

Our team at Portland Vet is running low on towels and blankets, and we’d love your help!

Clean, gently used or new towels and blankets make a huge difference for our patients by keeping them warm, dry, and comfortable while they’re in our care.

If you have extras at home, we’ll gladly give them a second life at our hospital.

📍 Donations can be dropped off at 2255 Congress Street, Portland, ME.

Thank you for supporting your local veterinary team and helping us care for pets in need! 🐾🧡

A little Halloween throwback to one of Portland Vet’s past patients, Calypso. 🎃🐈‍⬛

At just 13 weeks old, this tiny black kitten was already fully embracing the spooky-season spirit. And based on that favorite treat, we’re pretty sure Calypso was plotting something. 👀🩸

We love looking back at the adorable faces that have visited Portland Vet over the years. 🧡

Eye problems like glaucoma can start small and worsen over time, affecting your pet’s vision and comfort. Changes in your pet's eyes or vision can sometimes be subtle, which is why regular wellness exams and paying attention to changes at home are so important. 🧡🐾

If something seems different with your pet’s eyes, schedule an appointment with Portland Vet.

To help make care more manageable, we accept the CareCredit health and pet care credit card.

Fall comes with plenty of things pets love 🍂🐾

Crunchy leaves, long walks, cozy nights... plus a few things curious pets are probably better off leaving alone. 🫣

We put together some common fall hazards to keep on your radar, both outside and around the house.

Hopefully you won’t run into any trouble this fall, but it’s always good to know what to watch for. 🧡🐾

Feeling comfortable enough to play during a vet visit? We’ll take that as a pretty great review. 🥹🐾

We love hearing that this little kitten felt safe and at ease with our Portland Vet team. Thank you, Emily, for trusting us with his care and for sharing your experience! 🧡
