This week our paws are being called to action near Todos Santos at Rancho Nuevo to help Javier and his pets. 🐾Javier is the owner of 9 dogs and 1 cat, and they are in desperate need of some flea medication and food. 🙏 Our paws would like to raise enough money to give all 10 of his pets Bravecto and 3 - 4 bags of large food. Bravecto is a flea and tick preventative that lasts up to 3 months! This would be most ideal to be given as soon as possible as tick season is ramping up currently😭 In order to provide all 10 pets with Bravecto and food this would cost about 10,000 pesos -- 5,475 for the medication, and the rest would be used for dog food. 🐾🐕 We know times are tough, but they are even tougher for those in rural areas, so we are asking for even just a dollar to help Javier and his pets. He really loves each of them and is caring and providing for them as much as he can -- and sometimes we all just need a little help. So please help us raise 10,000 pesos/ 580usd and give back to our neighbor. 🙏

Meet Millie! 🩷

Millie was rescued in La Paz, Mexico in early 2025 after being found tied behind a fence with a serious leg wound. After receiving the care she needed, this sweet girl made a full recovery and is now thriving in foster care in California.

Millie is around 7 years old and 47 pounds, she is house and kennel trained, cat and dog friendly, and loves everyone she meets. This sweet girl is a lower/medium energy pup who enjoys toys, naps on the couch, and being close to her people. While she can be a little shy at first, she warms up quickly and becomes the goofiest, most loving companion.

Millie would do best in a home with another confident dog to help her continue building confidence. She’s currently being fostered in Palm Springs, California and available for meet-and-greets throughout Southern California.

All of Saving Baja Paws dogs come with a fantastic flexible foster-to-adopt option. This is a unique opportunity that allows your family to make sure it a perfect match with your new pup.

Millie's adoption fee for Oregon, Washington, or California is $300USD. This helps us cover most of her vet and care costs incurred in Mexico, and the transport fee to bring our pups from Mexico.

Our paws are happy to announce that today our shelter manager Yukiko was invited to speak on the harmful effects of fireworks to local community memevers and local goverment officials. 🐈🐕 Every year pets and wildlife are negatively impacted for days while fireworks fill the air for hours at a time. Our goal today is to help educate these effects and help create laws prohibiting firework usage in neighborhoods around Baja Sur. 🐾 Rescue work is more than just saving abandoned and injured animals, it is also creating laws and protocols to protect them as well. ❤️🐾🐕🐈

Today our paws want to remind all our followers in the US, Canada, and Mexico to register their pets microchips. 🐕 Just chipping your pet unfortunately does not guarantee you will be reunited with them if they are lost or stolen. Only a properly registered and updated chip can ensure your pet is returned safely if they are found or brought into a shelter. 🐶 Any vet, shelter, or rescue can scan a microchip for free if your pet is found and will help your pet find their way home to you. But this is only possible if your microchip information is UP-TO-DATE.🙌👏🙏 So please take just a few minutes to update your pets information, and we highly suggest in the notes section for their chip information you write “Please release my information to any finder including my phone number 555-555-555”. If you are unsure if your pets microchip is registered please follow our easy step-by-step process to registering them!

🐾Step One: Collect your pets microchip information, if you don’t have it already saved under a contact in your phone or notes we highly recommend you do. If you need to collect this information just take your pet to any vet for a quick chip scan at their front desk.
🐾Step Two: Visit www.petlink.net/microchip-search/ and type in your pet’s chip number this will tell you which company your microchip is registered to currently.
🐾Step Three: Create an account with the company your chip is registered to or maybe recover an old account and update your information. Or you can always register your chip at https://www.homeagain.com/get-started
🐾Step Four: Keep your pets information up-to-date! HomeAgain offers as many updates as you need for free, so don’t feel intimidated by their “premium memberships” — registering and keeping your pets information up-to-date will never cost you anything ❤️

We are so happy to announce Millie only has an abscess and a foreign bacteria causing the bulge on her leg. 🙏 this is great news compared to the other hypothesis we had 🙈 Her infection should clear up with strong antibiotics and maybe a drainage if the area doesn’t naturally drain. 🐾 we are still needing to raise about $250 more to cover the rest of her vet bill + the cost of new medication 💊
If you can support Millie at all our paws would be forever grateful!

Have you met Snickers? This sweet two and a half year old 25 pound pup is searching for his forever family in the PNW. Originally from Texas this playful boy has been in foster care in Portland for a few weeks and is thriving already with his new foster family. Our sweet boy cannot wait to find his new furever family just in time for summer!
Snickers was surrendered to a shelter in Amarillo, Texas in December 2025 then moved to a foster home in Texas in January 2026. In his foster home he was house trained and kennel trained. Then a few months later in April Snickers made his way to Portland, Oregon to his new foster home. Once arriving he quickly became friends with his foster siblings and is adjusting well to the Oregon weather. Snickers is a playful pup who loves to fetch and gets really excited for a fun squeaky toy. He is the perfect travel companion and loves to go on long walks with his family too. Snickers is very friendly with new people and loves to cuddle on the couch for a night of netflix and snacks.
Snickers is kid friendly and great with other dogs, he loves to engage in play time and has the cutest zoomies before dinner every night. He really is a great addition to any family and cannot wait to start forming new lifelong memories with his furever family.
Snickers is avaible for adoption anywhere in the PNW and is ready for meet and greets in Portland anytime.

Snickers adoption fee is $300 this helps us cover his food, medical needs, and travel costs. All our dogs are up to date on vaccines, spayed and neutered, and tested for major diseases.
If you are interested in adopting this sweet boy please apply at savingbajapaws.org/application

All of our dogs go into a new home on a trial basis to make sure they are the correct fit for your family.

Today we find ourselves at the vet office with Millie originally from La Paz, Mexico 🐾
This sweet gal has been in foster care for 3 months in Portland and this weekend started exhibiting pain and a small irritation on her left thigh. 😭 By Monday evening it was very obvious her small injury had grown into a ball on her elbow joint and she needed medical attention. 😰Luckily Vista Pet Hospital could get us in next day and we are currently waiting for X-rays and a fluid sample. ❤️
We estimate today to cost about $500 and are praying that Millie doesn’t have any serious long-term problems.
If you can help cover her bill today it would truly help us out. Our Baja pups are always taken care of no matter where in the world they end up. None of our pups ever deserve to be in pain due to lack of funds❤️ So if you can help us pay today we would be forever grateful 🙏
