Hi everyone!

I know it's been a while since I posted. We've been hard at work improving services and making some behind-the-scenes adjustments. Please bear with us as we update our phone services. It will help us maintain more accurate records for your furry friends.

In happy news, we now accept payments through Cherry! For those of you unfamiliar with Cherry, it functions very similarly to Affirm or Klarna, but with 0% financing. There is just a short, simple form and it does not involve a hard credit check, unlike credit cards. Apply now at https://pay.withcherry.com/vet-2-home

We look forward to seeing you and your pets soon!

⚠️ 𝗥𝗔𝗕𝗜𝗘𝗦 𝗔𝗟𝗘𝗥𝗧 - 𝗔𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗹𝘀.

The Florida Department of Health in Hernando County (DOH-Hernando) is issuing a rabies alert in Hernando County in response to a confirmed case of rabies in a cat in the Dade City area off Westwood Drive in Hernando County on June 29, 2026. DOH-Hernando is monitoring rabies among wild animals in the area. All residents and visitors should be aware that rabies is currently present in the wild animal population.

People and domestic animals should always avoid physical contact with wild animals (e.g., raccoons, bats, foxes, skunks, otters, bobcats, coyotes), which carry a higher risk of human exposure and a need for rabies post-exposure treatment. If you are exposed to rabies, receiving appropriate treatment after exposure will protect you from the risk of rabies.

This rabies alert is for 60 days and includes the following boundaries in Hernando County:

• Northern boundary: Coral Rock Drive
• Southern boundary: Old Trilby Road
• Eastern boundary: Lower Lake Road/ McKinney Sink Road
• Western boundary: Nature Coast Boulevard/ Highway 75

Take the following precautions to prevent rabies exposure:
• Immunize your pets and livestock based on your veterinarian’s recommended schedule.
• Keep pets under direct supervision and on a leash, and keep livestock secured on your property. If an animal bites your pet or livestock, seek veterinary assistance for the animal immediately and contact Hernando County Animal Services at 352-796-5062.
• Avoid contact with wild or stray animals. Do not handle, feed, or unintentionally attract them with outdoor pet food, open garbage cans, or other sources of food. If you have been bitten or scratched by a wild or domestic animal, seek medical attention, and report the injury to DOH-Hernando by calling 352-540-6812.
• Never adopt wild animals or bring them into your home; instead, contact a licensed wildlife rehabilitator.
• Call your local animal control agency to remove any stray animals from your neighborhood. Contact Hernando County Animal Services at 352-796-5062.
• Prevent wildlife, including bats, from entering living quarters or occupied spaces in homes, schools, and other similar areas where they might come in contact with people and pets.

For more information on rabies, please visit FloridaHealth.gov/Rabies or contact DOH-Hernando at 352-540-6812.

Sharing because it applies to Pasco and Hernando Counties too!

Please keep your pet's outdoor time to a minimum in the heat of the day. DO NOT leave them in the car, even with the AC on. You never know when the AC or the engine is going to conk out and leave them in an oven. Go for walks early in the morning or late in the evening. Spend as little time as possible with your pet's paws on the asphalt if you don't have a choice.

In short - if you wouldn't be barefoot on the sidewalk or the back of your palm finds the cement too hot - KEEP THEM INSIDE!!!

(Also let your vet brave the heat and come to you...😉)

SHARING FROM HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY ANIMAL CONTROL:
Florida is brutally hot right now, and our officers are responding to calls for deceased dogs in backyards almost every single day.

Please, if you have pets, do not leave them outside for extended periods. Shade is not enough. Water is not always enough. Temperatures can become deadly faster than most people realize.

Your dog depends on you for every aspect of their safety. If it's too hot for you to sit outside all day, it's too hot for them, too.

We live in Florida. We know what these temperatures can do. Yet families are still coming home to heartbreaking tragedies that could have been prevented.

We can prevent every one of these tragedies. Your pet's life literally depends on the choices you make.

Please share this reminder. If it helps save even one dog, it's worth it.

It has been an interesting week here at Vet 2 Home! I got to wear my scrubs for the first time in a month, so I picked a pair I hadn't worn since my days at Animal Medical Clinic and it felt so good! I love being a vet. I got to make new friends of the two legged, four legged and winged kind on Wednesday and I'm heading out to see a beloved client now. Vet 2 Home officially opens on Tuesday, but we're taking appointments now! We serve Brooksville, Spring Hill, Weeki Wachee, Hudson Beach, Aripeka, Hudson, Bayonet Point, Port Richey, New Port Richey, Trinity, Odessa, Masaryktown, and northern Holiday. Call or text 727-919-1515 or email [email protected]. Enjoy your weekend!
