We are the City of Port Isabel Animal Shelter. We offer low-cost dog and cat adoptions, microchipping, and work with Animal Control to manage the city. We also take in owner-surrendered pets and strays, and work to find homes for all homeless animals in Port Isabel. We happily accept volunteers, business partnerships, and donations -- they all help us get the word out about adopting a rescued pet!

ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL REUNION!

Can you believe the wild adventure this guy had?! 🐕💨
We are absolutely thrilled to announce that we were able to reunite Pickle with his owner today! ❤️🐾
Formally known as Steve Rogers (but officially named Pickle!), has traveled all the way from McAllen and somehow ended up right here with us here in Port Isabel!

But as always, thanks to our amazing Facebook community. Your likes, comments, and shares are exactly what led Pickle’s family to finding him at our shelter everyone helped make this happy ending possible! THANK YOU!!!🥰

We are so excited to announce that sweet Luna has officially gone on a Foster Run! 🐾 Fingers crossed this turns into her forever home! 🤞💖

Not quite ready to commit to a full adoption? No problem! We offer a Foster Run program that lets you take one of our many amazing furry friends home to see if they’re the right fit for your family.

It’s a fantastic way to get our shelter pets into a cozy, uplifting, and natural home environment—with absolutely zero strings attached. 🏡✨ Even if it's just for a little while, it makes a world of difference for them!

🚨 Mosquito Season is Here! 🦟

Don't let pesky biters ruin your outdoor fun. We’ve put together a quick guide on the Dos & Don'ts to keep your yard mosquito-free and your family safe this season.

A Few Quick Tips:

✅ DO empty standing water from flower pots, buckets, and gutters. Mosquitoes need very little water to breed!

✅ DO use repellents containing DEET, Picaridin, or Oil of Lemon Eucalyptus.

❌ DON'T wear heavily fragranced lotions or perfumes outdoors, as they can attract bugs.

❌ DON'T forget to change your pet's outdoor water bowls daily.

I repeat: Brownie has left the building! 🎉🐾

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that this sweet pup has officially found their forever home! A massive thank you to everyone who shared, cared, and sent good vibes to make this happen.

We are going to miss that sweet face around the Isabel Y. Garcia Animal Shelter, but we couldn't be happier for this new chapter. Join us in wishing Brownie and their new family the absolute best!
