Turf and planting beds want opposite things, and one zone cannot give them both.

Turf wants broad, even coverage across the whole surface. That is what spray heads and rotors are built for.

Beds want water at the base of specific plants. Not on the mulch. Not on the foliage. Not on the wall behind them.

Lighting and irrigation share more ground than people realize. Literally.

There is a pattern we see constantly. The lawn starts looking rough, so a day gets added to the schedule. It still looks rough, so another day gets added.

Now the system runs nearly every day and the lawn is no better.

Here is why. Frequent shallow watering keeps roots near the surface, where they are the most vulnerable thing in the yard. More days makes that worse, not better.
