👑KING JULIEN👑

THREE AND A HALF HOURS.

I spent three and a half hours of my day on the hunt for this devil. I couldn’t find him anywhere 😭😭😭. And my house is not big!

Hour One: Curious as to where he was but not panicking. I’m not a crazy person. Looking in obvious hiding spots as I cleaned up around the house.

Hour Two: Nervously laughing as I called for him to come on out and quit playing. I opened some canned food knowing that would tempt him enough to pop up from wherever he was. Nothing. No Julien.

Hour Three: King Julien is not allowed outside. Did that stop me from expanding my search to up and down the street for him at this point? No. I thought maybe he somehow slipped out when someone opened the door.

Cats are gonna cat. I know this. My other cats could go a week without seeing me and wouldn’t care. But he is my little shadow and he ALWAYS runs to me when I call him. Except today.

Hour Three And A Half: I started calling in a search party. I was convinced he was dead. I had all but planned his funeral. I was spiraling out of control. And he just casually waltzed through the living room like nothing was going on.

So that was my day. It’s fine. Everything is fine 🫠🫠🫠.

Shout out to the nice guy at the gas station who helped me save this little critter 😂💕. I’m ashamed to say I was absolutely terrified of him but I also couldn’t stand to watch him clinging for his life at 60mph 😭. So I casually asked the guy at the next pump, “on a scale of one to ten, how much do you love a praying mantis 🤨🧐?” And he said, “A solid six. Why?”

They’re all worth saving, no matter how small.

I don’t want to jinx anything, but I had a few people asking for updates. He’s doing better! His appetite is coming back, he’s getting more energetic, and overall improving.

As some of you might remember, Kingston is one of my feral babies. We have made progress over the last 3 years but he still doesn’t willingly come to us for pets or cuddles. And last night? He slept with us all night 😭😭😭. That alone lets me know he doesn’t feel good and is looking for comfort 🥺. I love this little guy so much. He’s still sick but ate some breakfast so maybe he’s on the mend.

About a week ago, I got the most precious gift that I have ever received as a rescuer.

Midnight was adopted way back in 2012. We saved him along with 34 other dogs from a terrible hoarding situation. To date, it is still one of the most awful experiences I have encountered. Snoozer, Lima, Luna… so many of them still have a piece of my heart. But Midnight was extra special.

He was an adult a few years old when he was adopted. After 13 years together, Midnight passed away. His adopter made us a book filled with pictures of his life with them in his memory.

Y’all.

When I say this dog was LOVED, this dog was LOVED. He was treasured beyond words. She included one of her business cards because he is on them with her😭😭😭 and got to go to work with her every day.

I cried until I had no tears left. I will cherish this precious book for the rest of my life.

I hope all of my dogs end up with families even half as amazing as Midnight’s family.
