Michigan Animal Rescue League (MARL) aims to be the community leader in non-profit animal welfare We don’t just provide food and shelter and call it good.

At MARL we believe the quality of “the wait” for a forever home can make all the difference in the future of an animal. While at MARL, our animals have exercise time, snuggle time, and most importantly, quality time with people who love them. Our staff knows our animals and they know us. When six animals in crisis arrived at our doors, each one scared, injured, and out of options... you were there. Your kindness, compassion, and quick action gave them the second chance they deserved.

Meet Melvin. 💙🐾He's the first to greet you when you enter our cage-free cat room, but also quick to shy away (he wants to be admired, but from a distance). With a little patience and treats, he’ll show you his sweet, silly side—batting around toys, sneaking snacks, and cozying up for naps in his favorite quiet spots. He’s looking for a calm, understanding home where he can feel safe, build confidence, and be loved for exactly who he is.

Big Mac walked through our doors and immediately stole our hearts. With his goofy grin, playful gallop, and total disregard for his size when it comes to being a lap dog, he’s become a fast favorite among staff and volunteers. His perfect person is out there. Could it be you?
