Better Together Animal Alliance (formerly Panhandle Animal Shelter) is dedicated to serving the animals of North Idaho. Our programs are focused on keeping families together and though sheltering is still part of our services we want sheltering to be a small part of what we do because our work keeps families together.

🐱DON'T BE A KITNAPPER🐱
When we find a kitten or a litter of kittens, our first impulse is to help them. But many kittens do not need us… or at least, not quite yet. We have come to recognize the harm that early removal of kittens from their mother can cause. Where possible, try to leave the kittens where they are until they start to eat solid food on their own. Learn more about what to do if you find a litter of kittens. bit.ly/btaakittens

DID YOU KNOW...
Ensuring your pet's collar tags are up-to-date and getting them microchipped are the best ways to ensure they return home quickly should they go missing. There are over 40 microchip scanning locations across our region. If you find a loose dog, you can bring it to any of these stations and help reunite them with their family. Visit bit.ly/findfidofaster to learn more.

About microchips—Implanted microchips are small and painless. They serve as an important security measure to help ensure that a pet is returned home, even if a collar and tag are lost. They are not GPS trackers but instead contain contact information for the pet’s home. Veterinarians, shelters, and animal control professionals can scan these chips and track down each pet’s registered owner.
