To compassionately shelter lost, abandoned and surrendered pets and rehome those animals into a caring environment, thereby enriching lives through adoption. Life Savers Animal Rescue (LSAR) consists of a dedicated and caring group of individuals working to rescue animals. Our goal is to enrich the lives of the animals and the people who adopt them.

Tuff had his first session with Montana Water Dogs today! We are so excited to share that Varen from Montana Water Dogs has teamed up with Life Savers Animal Rescue to help give Tuff the best chance at living the fullest life possible.

Today was his very first visit, and he did SO well! Watching him work and seeing his determination was incredible. We know this journey won’t happen overnight, but we’re hopeful that with time, therapy, and lots of support, Tuff can continue making progress.

A huge thank you to Varen for stepping up to help this special boy. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for him and to share his progress along the way. ❤️

✨ Meet Sparkles & Bling ✨

These sweet sisters are looking for a family to call their own!

🤍 Sparkles (the white pup) is about 4-5 months old and weighs around 23 lbs. She’s the more energetic of the pair and is always ready for fun, playtime, and attention. We think she may be a Lab/Cattle Dog mix.

🤎 Bling (the tan pup) is about 24 lbs and may have some Shar Pei in her with that adorable wrinkly face. She’s the calmer sister but still loves a good wrestling match and puppy play session.

Both girls have received their first vaccines, deworming, and rabies vaccine. They are incredibly sweet, love attention, and are learning that humans can be pretty wonderful. They’re working hard on their manners and gaining confidence every day.

If you’re looking for a young pup with lots of love to give, Sparkles or Bling might be your perfect match. ❤️

Our little parvo survivor has been released from the hospital and to her foster home🩷. She is doing great - sassy and energetic and ready to begin the next chapter of her life! We have been calling her parvo puppy - that has to stop - so let’s name this girl. Any ideas????

One of the things people often ask is whether or not a dog is cat friendly. And very often we don’t know or we have to say no. Well here is a ridiculously cat friendly puppy!! Sassafras, called Sassy by her foster parents, is an 11 week old puppy. She and her siblings lost their mom so the orphans were brought to us. Her foster mom says she is a lovely girl! She is smart and a quick learner and gets along with all the dogs and the cats. She loves to fetch which makes sense as we do think that she is likely a lab crossed with perhaps some herding dog and maybe a giant breed as she is a fairly big girl for her age. She has had her first set of shots and is a healthy puppy. If you are looking for a cat friendly dog, this may be your girl.

Good morning from Tuff! Tuff had a pretty good week as we have finally determined what has affected his back legs. Tuff was infected in utero by neospora. This is a spore that is found in raw meat or other sources like cow placenta. If the pregnant mom ingested matter containing this spore, then she became infected and in turn infected her puppy. Not all puppies in a litter are symptomatic, but Tuff certainly is. There is no cure that will make his legs completely normal, but a three month course of antibiotics should kill the spore and stop any progression of his symptoms. We then hope that continued physical therapy, including water therapy, stretching and manipulation will make his tendons more flexible and he will be more mobile. He certainly has perfected his bunny hop and can tear across the grass almost as fast as any dog, but we would love to see him flex and move those legs individually!!! He will be heading to a new foster in the Bitterroot this weekend who will have more time to work with him and be able to take him to water therapy in Missoula. We will continue to post future updates of this sweet boy and his progress🩷

Remember Mama Aurora? She came to us this past winter with seven 3-week-old puppies. The whole family was battling upper respiratory infections, and Aurora herself was fighting pyometra. It was a scary start, but she pulled through with the help of her foster family, veterinary care, and a whole lot of love.

Today, we received the update every rescue hopes for. ❤️

“Hi! I adopted Mama Aurora in March. Her name is now Molly. She is wonderful. She loves running and looking for gophers, chasing balls, and lying in the sun. When she wears us out, she entertains herself with one of her many toys. We just love her. Thanks for helping her find her forever home!”
