Nestled in Pleasant View, Tennessee, we're an independently owned, AAHA-accredited veterinary hospital with a serious passion for medicine and a not-so-secret obsession with exotic animals.

WildThings Animal Hospital will be closed this Friday, October 23, so our team can enjoy a three-day weekend in celebration of Veterinary Staff Appreciation Week.

Aside from major holidays, we’re usually here—even on many days when work/schools are closed. This Friday, we’re giving our hardworking team a little extra time to rest and be with the people they love. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding. Please plan ahead for prescription refills and anything your pets may need before the weekend.

In honor of this week, I want to tell you about the people who make WildThings what it is.

I wish you could see our team the way I get to see them.

You see the person answering your call, bringing your pet into a room, explaining medications, or carrying them back to you. I get to see everything that happens in between—and these people have some of the most beautiful hearts I know.

They pour so much love into our patients.From the cuddly to the spicy, we love them all.

I’ve watched them cry alongside families through good news and heartbreaking news. I’ve seen owners ask them to stay when it’s time to say goodbye to a beloved pet because, somewhere along the way, they became part of that pet’s family, too.

That stays with me. To have cared for an animal so deeply that their family wants you beside them at the end.To know that, during a moment when nothing feels okay, your presence brings a little comfort.

Please know that when your pet becomes part of our lives, they matter to us, too.

They welcome students. They teach patiently. They work together to find solutions. When someone needs help, someone steps in. They give people room to learn without making them feel small for still learning.

In a world so focused on getting ahead, I think we sometimes forget that victories are meant to be shared. That helping someone else become better is something to be proud of. That another person’s success gives us something to celebrate together.

My team remembers.

I’ve worked in a few places, and I can honestly say, without a doubt, this is the best group of people I have ever worked with. I see people who want their coworkers to succeed. They share what they know, celebrate each other’s strengths, and have each other’s backs when the day gets hard.

Each of them helps make WildThings a place where people can be heard, treated fairly, and supported in becoming their best. That is rare, and I don’t take it for granted.

To our entire staff, from the front desk to the back: I see you.

I see how hard you try. I see how much you care. I see the moments our clients never get to see, and I wish I could put every one of them into words so you would understand why I’m so proud to work beside you.

Thank you for caring about the frightened patient, the worried owner, the student finding their confidence, and the coworker who needs a hand. Thank you for the laughter and kindness you bring into this building.

It is a privilege to spend my days with you. I hope you leave for this long weekend knowing how deeply you are appreciated.

WildThings Animal Hospital is hiring an experienced Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant!

We’re a privately owned, AAHA-accredited hospital in Pleasant View, TN, caring for dogs, cats, and exotics.

We’re looking for someone with strong surgical experience who is confident with surgical preparation, sterile technique, assisting with procedures, anesthesia monitoring, and patient recovery. You should be comfortable with the surgical workflow and ready to put your skills to work.

Dependability, teamwork, and compassionate patient care are a must.

Pay is negotiable based on experience and skills.

Proud to Be AAHA Accredited

WildThings Animal Hospital is proud to be an AAHA-accredited veterinary hospital. Accreditation through the American Animal Hospital Association means our hospital voluntarily chooses to meet rigorous standards for veterinary care, safety, cleanliness, medical protocols, anesthesia, surgery, dentistry, diagnostic services, pharmacy practices, client communication, team training, and more.

AAHA accreditation is not required for veterinary hospitals, and not every veterinary practice chooses to pursue it. For us, accreditation represents our commitment to continually evaluating how we care for our patients and looking for ways to improve.

Our team works hard to maintain these standards every day—not simply because we want to pass an inspection, but because we believe our patients and their families deserve thoughtful, consistent, high-quality care.

Being AAHA accredited is something we are incredibly proud of. It reflects the work of our entire WildThings team and our commitment to providing the best care we can to the animals who trust us with their health.

It started with one innocent question at Wild Things this week: “Would you rather live in outer space or under the sea?”

We thought everyone would answer, explain themselves, and go back to work. That was several days ago.

There is now a whiteboard. There are teams. People are checking it to see who’s changed sides. Someone will walk through the room, see a new set of initials, and immediately demand an explanation like we’ve just lost a vote in Congress.

The space people want adventure and new planets. The sea people want dolphins and apparently believe a shark would respect their personal space. Neither side has explained where we’re getting food, air, or a veterinarian for whatever creature follows us home.

Meanwhile, the pets are getting excellent care while their humans argue over which completely uninhabitable place has better real estate.

We need outside votes. Would you rather live in outer space or under the sea? Please include your reasoning. We will be reading the comments aloud to each other like evidence in court.
