‼️IMPORTANT NOTICE‼️
Rescue is always full of firsts and surprises, both good and bad. Sadly, today, we have hit a bad first. It is with heavy hearts that for the first time in memorable history of Happy Paws we announce we are officially on intake hold. We have amazing foster homes that have continually stepped up for us in the recent past (and continue to do so) but they can not keep over working themselves. No one benefits when that happens.
Without foster homes we have no where for animals to go.
Friday we pleaded for foster homes for 4 pups that are coming in tonight. We got one response. One. For one animal. So now, these pups will be placed in already full foster homes, stretching the humans who care for them and the resident animals beyond their physical, mental and emotional limits. A situation we NEVER want to be in.
Happy Paws will stand behind the commitments that we have already made to animals in need but we will not be tagging any more dogs or taking in any more kittens without DEDICATED and reliable foster homes for them to go to.
We understand that our posts look like they show a lot of interest from people. However, the sad reality is that less than ¼ of those people actually apply. Of those who do apply only ¾ qualify and of those COUNTLESS back out or change their minds. Our volunteers spend DAYS processing applications and answering questions for leads that go NO WHERE. This is something we never thought we would have to do. We have done our best to avoid it. But here we are.
We thank and appreciate our foster homes who have done an amazing job so far. If you want to become a foster home please apply. ONLY serious inquiries and please be patient. We are stretched beyond thin limits right now.
