Riding Blossom, following my dad (Bob Shivers) who is on his horse “Maybe” while ponying Max. Blossom had a little attitude for most of the ride. She either didn’t like being in the back, or didn’t like Max, or just wasn’t happy that it’s Monday and she has to go back to work ….most likely all of the above. But she didn’t have much of choice and eventually had to get over it.

Just over a week now working with Max and he’s doing ok, can be pretty stubborn at times but that’s to be expected from a 14 yr old that’s had some time off. Overall he’s heading in the right direction, just has a long way to go. Definitely looks good under saddle.

This week with Finley has been a successful start. Tremendous amount of groundwork, ponying, ground driving, and desensitizing. She took most of it pretty well.

Here is a little example of some basic groundwork we do during the first session with a new horse. This is Max, he’s 14 and here for a refresher. So far so go

Blossom is making some great progress. Getting her more and more out of her comfort zone by riding her away from other horses , further away from the barns and getting her exposed to our cattle. She’s coming along very nicely now.

A little groundwork with Finley.

Daisy is another one we’ve had with us for training and she was doing ok but is currently going through another little stubborn streak. So it’s back to the basics for her.

“Finley”, a new arrival for training. 5 yr old draft cross that’s broke but needs some further training and consistency. Starting off with a lot of groundwork and desensitizing.

New arrival for training, “Max”. He’s 14 and has had a few years off so a restart is in order for him. First thing will be some much needed groundwork and a review of ground manners. Bob Shivers seen here working with him during this first session.

Here’s a small portion of a ride I had on Woody this week. He’s a new one we are working with this month. Very nice young horse, just needs a little further training on a few things

Not my best video, phone was on a fence post , but wanted to give an update on Blossom. She’s making some progress. Things started out very slow for her, she was very stubborn in the beginning of her training and very reluctant to move out on her own. Now she’s riding pretty well on her own and things seem to be finally heading in the right direction.
