Despite her eye roll, Bernie was the sweetest patient of the afternoon today! This little girl encountered a small mishap when she tried to jump up onto a table but a box was in the way. Both Bernie and the box ended up on the floor and she tore her nail during the fiasco.

Technician Ally helped soak her little paw after we tended to her injured toe.

Bernie is a Burmese Cat who was actually born in Canada! Her owner told us she doesn't go anywhere without her "emotional support pretzel" - she loves to carry a pretzel around the house but never eats it. So it only made sense she also brought a pretzel with her to her appointment today.

🐾 Bringing Home a New Cat? Here’s How to Keep the Peace! 🐱

Adding a new feline friend to your home is exciting — but it’s also a big change, especially if you already have pets. Cats love routine and territory, so a slow introduction can make all the difference in creating a calm, happy household.

Here are a few vet-approved tips to help things go smoothly:

✅ Start with a safe room. Give your new cat their own cozy space with food, water, a litter box, and a comfy place to hide. This helps them adjust without feeling overwhelmed.

👃 Swap scents before face time. Let your cats get used to each other’s smell by swapping blankets or toys. This builds familiarity in a non-stressful way.

🚪 Do slow visual intros. Let them see each other from behind a gate or cracked door before any face-to-face meetings.

🐈‍⬛ Keep early meetings short and sweet. Use treats and toys to distract and reward calm behavior. Go at their pace — no forcing!

⏳ Be patient. Some cats are instant besties. Others take weeks to warm up. And that’s okay! Respect their timeline and keep things positive.

💬 Questions or concerns about your cats adjusting? We’re here to help! Reach out to our team anytime. 💛

Your puppy’s first vet visit is an important milestone in setting them up for a healthy, happy life. During this initial appointment, your veterinarian will begin the essential vaccine series to protect your pup from common infectious diseases like parvovirus, distemper, and more. They’ll also record your puppy’s weight and growth progress, helping to monitor development over time. It’s also a perfect opportunity to get your puppy used to the sights, sounds, and smells of the veterinary clinic—helping reduce fear and anxiety during future visits. Your vet may gently examine your puppy’s ears, paws, and mouth, which is a great reminder to begin practicing handling at home. Getting your puppy comfortable with having their feet touched, ears examined, and nails trimmed helps build trust and makes future grooming and veterinary care much smoother.

FIREWORKS ARE COMING! 💥

Many animals will become frightened and take off. Please take action now to prepare. Remember, no one plans to lose their pet. Shelters and animal control agencies in our area are already at capacity. Don’t let your pet become a statistic.

If your pet is microchipped and you have moved or changed your phone number, please update your contact info ASAP. If you aren’t sure how to do it, contact your vet or where you adopted your pet.

If you would like another layer of protection, put collars on your pets with your phone number.

If your furry friend gets very anxious with loud noises, NOW is the time to reach out to us about whether a calming medication may be helpful. Please do not wait until last minute!

WE WILL BE CLOSED FRIDAY, JULY 4.

🐶 Dogtor’s Orders for Beating the Heat! ☀️

Some very important summer safety advice for our fellow furry friends:

🩺 Stay indoors where it’s cool & breezy.
If your humans have AC, it’s time to be a couch pup-tato.

🩺 No hot paws!
Sidewalks and asphalt can burn those toe beans. If you wouldn’t walk barefoot, neither should they!

🩺 Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.
Fresh water is a must — bonus points for a splashy kiddie pool!

🩺 Limit playtime outside.
Early morning or evening strolls only, please. Midday sun is a no-go.

Stay safe, stay cool, and give us a call if you have any concerns.
We’re here to help keep those tails wagging all summer long! 🐾

☂️ Rain or Shine, Vaccines Are On Time!

Meet Happy, the most dapper Cavalier King Charles spaniel we’ve seen all week—rocking his rainy-day boots like a true fashion icon. His mom says he refuses to step outside without them when it’s wet, and honestly, we get it.

Happy came in for his routine vaccines today, and we just had to snap a photo with our tech Maria. While the boots stole the show, staying up to date on vaccines is the real way to protect your pets—rain or shine! ☂️

Did you know that April 26th is World Veterinarian Day!

Why Vet Visits Matter — Even for Indoor Pets
On this World Veterinary Day, we’re reminding pet parents that regular vet care isn’t just for outdoor animals. Even if your pet stays indoors, they still need annual checkups and up-to-date vaccines.

Why? Because early detection of health issues can save lives. Indoor pets can still be exposed to airborne illnesses, parasites, and diseases brought in on clothing, shoes, or other pets. Preventive care — like vaccines, dental checks, and weight monitoring — helps ensure your furry friend stays happy and healthy for years to come.

Thank you to veterinarians everywhere for being the everyday heroes behind our pets’ well-being!
