L-LYSINE 20 g
Lysine, an essential amino acid needed for appropriate growth (muscle, blood and hoof building) and bone development helping calcium
absorption and maintaining proper nitrogen balance. A deficiency of Lysine, most likely will limit the building of muscles. This amino acid aids in the
production of antibodies, hormones and enzymes, and helps in collagen formation and tissue repair, as well as stimulation of gastric juices.

DL-METHIONINE 10 g
Methionine, an essential amino acid important for the generation of energy and protein metabolization and is one of the nutritionally required protein building blocks vital for normal metabolism and growth. Methionine is needed for the production of cystine which is necessary to form the healthy “cross links” of collagen that add strength and elasticity, needed for healthy hoof, skin, hair, ligaments, tendons and cartilage. Methionine is an important source of dietary sulfur, helping to support normal liver health and urinary PH. A deficiency of Methionine impacts muscle function, combined with Lysine to form carnitine, a carrier for muscles to burn fat.

L-THREONINE 5 g
Threonine is an essential amino acid which supports digestion, immune function and muscle systems. It enhances growth and food deficiency,
produces adrenalin, is a precursor to thyroid hormones. Threonine is necessary for optimal GI tract health; assists mucin production (an important component of mucous) which contributes to a smooth functioning gut and nutrient absorption; protects the gut against digestive enzymes, pathogens and toxins. This important amino acid helps speed up the healing process due to trauma or injury. A Lysine and Threonine deficiency is likely to limit the body’s ability to build muscles.

Saccharomyces cerevisiae (20,000mg/scoop) is a digestibility enhancer and gut flora stabilizer. If the fiber is making a greater contribution to the horse’s requirements, then less concentrates should be required, which is ideal for any horses that are prone to digestive upsets or over-excitable behaviour. Research suggests that adding live yeast to the feed, when starch was fed, helped to counteract some of the negative effects that usually occur in the hind gut, in response to starchy meals. It does support the inclusion of yeast in performance-horse rations.



When given to lactating mares, the resulting improvement in fiber digestion is reflected in changes to milk quality, to the benefit of suckling foals, which show improved growth compared to foals suckling mares given feed without supplementation. Moreover, yeasts are a rich source of water-soluble vitamins and phosphorus.

Slippery Elm Bark - This will act as an internal poultice, reducing over- acid secretions and soothing inflammation for normal healthy recovery of the damaged lining. Will also assist in relaxing the stomach and improving the normal rhythmic action necessary for digestion and fluid secretion.

Meadowsweet Herb Salicylic - acid from Meadowsweet and Willow is the original herbal aspirin. It is particularly effective when used for ulcers resulting from drug use or poisoning. It is one of the best all around herbs for the digestive system and will soothe mucous membranes in the digestive tract, reducing excess acidity and associated pain. It is a valuable anti-inflammatory and astringent herb. Licorice Root has been used for over 3000 years as a digestive and respiratory aid. This herb has the ability to harmonize with many other herbs and tastes pleasant for horses. The active ingredient in Licorice is Glycyrrhizin. It produces a thick sticky mucous when ingested which will reduce gastric acid secretion and encourage healing, particularly for those horses that have completed a treatment with steroids or phenylbutazone, or have gastric ulcers.

Mixed Bioflavonoids, Milk Thistle & Bearberry - Milk thistle is beneficial for the liver. It detoxifies poisons that enter the blood stream. Bioflavonoids are a diverse class of botanical compounds that function within plants as antioxidants, enzyme inhibitors, pigments and light screens. They also are involved with photosensitization, photosynthesis and defense against infection. A growing body of evidence points to a possible connection between plant Bioflavonoids and prevention/treatment of gastric ulceration in mammals. Some Bioflavonoids have been reported to be as effective as cimetidine in reducing total gastric secretion, reducing the free and total acids in the gastric secretions, and reducing gastric mucosal histamine. Research has shown that combinations of flavonoids are able to reduce ulceration in rats by up to 99%. In addition, the flavonic fraction of Milk Thistle and Bearberry prevented the development of and/or improved the healing of rat ulcers.

Marshmallow Root - It’s mucilaginous qualities make it ideal for the treatment of inflammation and ulceration of the digestive system as well as stomach and intestinal disorders. Specific for any condition of the digestive system such as gastric ulceration, soothes the gut.
