This Memorial Day, we pause to honor the courageous military and working dogs who served beside those who protect our country and our communities. 🇺🇸🐾

These loyal dogs faced danger without hesitation. Protecting soldiers, assisting officers, carrying out rescue missions, and standing faithfully beside their handlers through the toughest moments. Many gave their lives in service to others.

Here in Pittsburgh, K9 Rocco remains a powerful reminder of that devotion and sacrifice. In 2014, Rocco was critically injured while protecting Pittsburgh police officers in the line of duty and later passed away from his injuries. His courage touched our entire community, and his memorial statue on the North Shore stands today as a tribute to the loyalty and bravery working dogs show every day.

This Memorial Day, we remember not only the heroes who walked on two legs, but also the four-legged heroes who served with unwavering loyalty, courage, and heart.

They served.
They protected.
They will never be forgotten. ❤️

Huge thank you to everyone who came out for today’s volunteer clean-up day! We had a wonderful turnout and accomplished an incredible amount of yard work around the park. From trimming back overgrowth to clearing along the fence line, every helping hand made a difference.

It’s always amazing to see our community come together to care for this space — and the dogs seemed pretty happy to supervise the work too 🐾💚

Thank you again to everyone who donated their time, energy, and tools. We truly appreciate you!

If you weren’t able to make it out today but would still like to support the park, please consider making a donation. Contributions of any size help us continue maintaining and improving this space for everyone to enjoy.
