Today is the last day to take advantage of HARP’s Vets & Pets adoption special with 84 Lumber.

Before National Military Appreciation Month comes to a close, active-duty military members and veterans can still receive 50% off adoption fees for adult pets (6+ months).

A loyal companion could be waiting for you right now.

Every adopted pet goes home spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready to begin their next chapter by your side.

Visit HARP’s North Side or East Side shelter today and meet the pet who could change your life.

Thank you to all who have served.

Because of this incredible community, baby season got a little lighter for our Wildlife Rehabilitation Center.

From bags of seed and puppy chow to heating pads, recovery cages, mealworms, paper towels, and hundreds of cans of food, your generosity showed up in a BIG way for orphaned and injured wildlife.

Together, you donated:
• 70 lbs of nuts
• 200 lbs of cracked corn
• 175 lbs of dove/pigeon seed
• 200+ cans of fruits and veggies
• Specialized feeding and recovery supplies
• And so much more

Every donation helps provide food, warmth, medical care, and a second chance for vulnerable wildlife during one of our busiest baby seasons yet.

But the truth is: the babies keep coming.

Every day, new orphaned squirrels, songbirds, bunnies, opossums, raccoons, and other wild patients arrive needing warmth, food, medication, and around-the-clock care. Some baby bird nests are cleaned every hour for 13 hours a day.

The needs never stop — and neither does this work.

If you’d still like to help, we are continuing to accept donations of supplies and monetary gifts to help the next patient through our doors, check our our wishlist here https://bit.ly/49QzDq0

Thank you for showing up for wildlife when they needed it most.

Temporary Wildlife Intake Closure

Due to an unusually high volume of patients and calls, our Wildlife Rehabilitation Center is temporarily closed to new admissions until June 7th. 🐿️🦉🦆

Our Wildlife Helpline remains open, but please allow 48–72 hours for a response as we work through a high volume of inquiries. We are prioritizing emergency calls and are unable to provide patient updates.

In the meantime, if you’ve found an animal in need of care, here are some helpful resources to find another licensed wildlife rehabilitator:

Baby season is keeping us busy at HARP’s Wildlife Rehabilitation Center.

Every day, our team is providing lifesaving care, monitoring recoveries, preparing specialized diets, and giving vulnerable wildlife the second chance they deserve. These are just a few of the patients currently in our care.

Behind every intake is a dedicated team of staff, volunteers, and caregivers working tirelessly to meet the demands of one of the busiest times of the year. We’re incredibly grateful for their compassion, expertise, and commitment to helping wildlife when they need it most.

Take a look at some of the faces that make this work so important.

What an incredible day at Barks & Brews 2026. 🍻🐾

To everyone who attended, volunteered, sponsored, poured, performed, donated, brought their pups, and helped make this event possible: thank you.

Because of this amazing community, Barks & Brews once again brought together animal lovers from across Pittsburgh to celebrate, connect, and raise lifesaving support for animals in need. From local craft brews and food vendors to wagging tails and smiling faces, every moment helped make a difference for the thousands of animals who rely on HARP each year.

A huge thank you to our participating breweries, vendors, sponsors, Junior Advisory Council members, HARP staff, and volunteers who worked so hard behind the scenes to create such a memorable event.

And of course, thank you to every guest who showed up to support our mission. Your support helps provide shelter, medical care, enrichment, adoption services, wildlife rehabilitation, and second chances for animals throughout our region.

We are so grateful to share this community with you.

Until next year, Pittsburgh. 🍻💙

Guess who’s spending the weekend at the shelter?

Sweet Inez is usually soaking up the comforts of foster life, but she’ll be hanging out at Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh this weekend and would love some visitors while she’s here.

Inez has the kind of presence that makes people instantly smile. She’s affectionate, charming, and ready to win over everyone she meets with her goofy personality and loving heart. While foster has helped her thrive, what she really deserves is a forever home.

So if you’ve been thinking about adopting, this weekend might be the perfect chance to meet your new best friend.

Come say hi to Inez while she’s here. She can’t wait to meet you.
