🎃👻 SPOOKY SEASON IS HERE! Let’s Keep Our Furry Friends SAFE! 🐾🧡

Halloween is full of fun, costumes, candy, and spooky decorations, but some of those treats and festivities can be dangerous for our pets! Here are a few important reminders before the big night.

🍫 KEEP THE CANDY OUT OF REACH! Chocolate, sugar-free candy containing xylitol, and other sweets can be dangerous or even life-threatening to pets. Keep trick-or-treat bags where curious noses can’t reach them!

🍬 WATCH OUT FOR CANDY WRAPPERS! Wrappers can cause choking or intestinal blockages if swallowed.

🎃 BE CAREFUL WITH DECORATIONS! Keep pets away from electrical cords, small decorations, glow sticks, and candles. Wagging tails and curious paws can cause unexpected trouble!

🚪 PREVENT ESCAPES! With the door opening repeatedly for trick-or-treaters, pets can easily slip outside. Keep them in a secure, quiet room and make sure their ID tags and microchip information are up to date.

🐕 COSTUMES SHOULD BE COMFORTABLE! If your pet dresses up, make sure the costume fits properly, allows normal movement and breathing, and doesn’t have pieces they can chew off or swallow.

🐱 DON’T FORGET OUR FELINE FRIENDS! Many cats feel safest in a quiet room away from the doorbell, visitors, and Halloween commotion.

🚨 IMPORTANT: If your pet eats chocolate, sugar-free candy, or another potentially toxic substance, contact your veterinarian or an animal poison control service promptly. Don’t wait for symptoms to appear, and don’t induce vomiting unless instructed by a veterinary professional.

Is this not the sweetest little face you have ever seen?! 😍🐶 Billy Jean stopped by to visit us, and we just can’t get enough of those beautiful eyes and that adorable face! With her fluffy fur and colorful bed, she definitely knows how to make herself right at home! 🩵💛💗

Puppy visits are about more than just cuddles and kisses! 🩺🐾 These early visits help your new family member get comfortable with our team while giving us the opportunity to discuss vaccines, parasite prevention, nutrition, socialization, and all the things your puppy needs to grow into a happy, healthy adult dog.

🐾 A QUICK REMINDER ABOUT OUR AFTER-HOURS EMERGENCY SERVICES 🐾

We’ve had a few questions about how our after-hours emergency services work, and we want to take a moment to explain the process so everyone knows what to expect when their pet needs urgent care. ❤️

📞 What happens when you call?

Our after-hours emergency service works a little differently than our regular business hours. The doctor and technician on call are not physically at the hospital. They are at home with their families or resting if it is late at night, but they remain available to help assess emergencies.

When you call, you will speak with one of our certified veterinary technicians. They will ask you questions about your pet’s symptoms, medical history, and current situation so they can gather the information needed to help.

Please understand that our on-call technician does not have access to your pet’s medical records or our hospital schedule while taking these calls. We ask these questions so we can properly communicate your pet’s situation to the doctor on call.

The technician will then consult with the doctor on call when available. If a doctor is unavailable, we will direct you to the best available option for your pet’s needs.

🚨 What is considered a true emergency?

After-hours calls should be reserved for situations that are urgent and cannot safely wait until we reopen.

Examples of true veterinary emergencies include:

🐾 Difficulty breathing or choking
🐾 Collapse, unconsciousness, or inability to stand
🐾 Seizures, especially repeated seizures or a seizure lasting more than 5 minutes
🐾 Severe bleeding or major trauma, such as being hit by a car
🐾 A swollen, painful abdomen or repeated unsuccessful attempts to vomit
🐾 Difficulty urinating or inability to pass urine, especially in cats
🐾 Suspected poisoning or ingestion of a dangerous substance
🐾 Severe pain or sudden inability to walk
🐾 Difficulty giving birth or signs of serious complications during labor
🐾 Pale, white, blue, or gray gums, or signs of shock

Questions about routine medications, minor symptoms, food recommendations, scheduling, or non-urgent concerns should generally wait until regular business hours.

We ask that you contact Pet Poison Helpline before calling our after-hours service. Their specialists can quickly assess the substance and amount ingested, calculate potential toxicity, and provide treatment recommendations that can help guide both you and our veterinary team.

🐾💜 A Mother’s Love Starts From Day One! 💜🐾

Just look at this sweet mama cat and her tiny 1-week-old baby! 🥹🐱

Mom is doing what she does best—keeping her little one warm, safe, and well-fed. At only one week old, this tiny kitten is still completely dependent on mom for everything. Those first few weeks are such an important time for growth and development. ❤️

Regular veterinary care for mom and her kittens helps make sure everyone is healthy, growing appropriately, and getting the care they need. We can also help answer questions about nutrition, deworming, vaccines, and what to expect as these little babies grow.

For now, though… this little one has the most important thing of all: a loving mama! 🥰

🦷 Catch dental disease before it becomes painful or causes bigger health problems

🐱🦷 Feline Dental Care Matters! 🦷🐱

Did you know that dental disease is one of the most common health problems we see in cats? And because our feline friends are experts at hiding discomfort, dental problems can go unnoticed until they become quite advanced.

Regular dental care can help prevent plaque, tartar, gingivitis, periodontal disease, painful infections, and tooth loss. Keeping your cat’s mouth healthy can also help them stay comfortable and enjoy their food for years to come! ❤️

🏠 Simple things you can do at home:
🪥 Brush their teeth – Daily is ideal, but even a few times a week can help. Use a pet-safe toothpaste and a toothbrush designed for cats.
🦷 Start slowly – Let your cat get used to having their lips and mouth handled before introducing a toothbrush.
🥩 Consider dental diets or treats – Some products are specifically designed to help reduce plaque and tartar.
👀 Check their mouth regularly – Watch for red or swollen gums, bad breath, yellow/brown buildup, drooling, difficulty eating, or dropping food.
🏥 Schedule regular veterinary dental exams – Professional dental cleanings allow us to evaluate areas you can’t see at home and address dental disease before it becomes more serious.
