We can’t believe this sweet girl is still at the shelter! She is now spayed and UTD on Rabies vac. She is dog friendly and super playful! She adores people and would make an amazing family pet!

Litter box liners may seem like a time saver but they actually create more work and aren't very claw-friendly.

Baxter is still looking for his furever home!

Stop the search! Baxter, an 8-year-old gem, is ready to find his perfect "furever" home. Don't let that "senior" label fool you—this guy is a pro at living his best life!

At a sleek 15 pounds, Baxter is the ultimate pocket-sized pal and a master of balance: one part gentle playfulness, one part champion cuddler. Seriously, why choose when you can have a sweet, sophisticated pup who nails both a short, happy strolls and play sessions AND a luxurious afternoon nap? He’s a social butterfly with the doggy crowd and loves forming those deep, loyal bonds with his human crew.

Now, let's talk about that signature snaggletooth! That's not just a charming grin; it's a badge of honor for a pup who has seen things and knows what he likes, and he's willing to break it off on the right man on the wrong day. His own personal shiv, if you will. We'll be honest: Baxter sometimes has selective membership criteria for the Men's Club. Think of him as an expert in judging character! We think slow, respectful introductions with men will be best, as he does well with most. This little quirk likely stems from a not-so-great experience with a man during a long boarding stay after transitioning from his original home. He’s not anti-male, he's just pro-patience and good vibes!

As for the tiny humans: Baxter is great with kids, but this seasoned gentleman values his peace and quiet. He's totally ready for a gentle game, but he's not signing up for the all-day toddler Olympics! He’d probably thrive best with older children who know the fine art of respecting a dog's "me-time," or very gentle, boundary-aware younger children.

Baxter is a finished product! He’s neutered, microchipped, fully vaccinated, and heartworm negative. This sweet guy is literally packed and waiting by the door to begin his comfortable retirement with you!

His standard adoption fee is $150, but because seniors recognize quality, he’s part of our Seniors Adopting Seniors program, dropping the fee to a sweet $75 for adopters over 65!

Ready to welcome this loyal, distinguished companion into your home? Don't wait—apply now!

Since Sunday, 59 dogs have been impounded at the Cleveland Kennel. They can hold around 150 total and were already pretty full.

They weren’t listed as urgent when the currevt urgent collage was made, but today Roxy, Pacer, Elphaba and Ravenna were euthanized. These were pups that passed their behavior evaluations and had been listed for adoption. The Kennel ran out of space, so they ran out of time. New intakes whose stray holds were up were likely also euthanized.

The Cleveland Kennel is full.
Community members need to pick up their stray dogs.
Folks need to adopt.
Rescues can save more lives if people signed up to foster.

Please, help get the word out.

🦁✨ Meet Griffin — brave heart, soft paws, and endless purrs! ✨🦁

Handsome, sweet, and full of charm, Griffin is a 3–4-month-old white-and-tabby kitten with a personality as big as his name! This little adventurer loves to explore, chase toys, and show off his brave side — but when playtime winds down, he’s all cuddles and gentle purrs.

Griffin currently resides in a loving foster home in the Columbus area with his siblings Teddy and Loki, where he’s perfecting his kitten antics and snuggle skills. He’d love to be adopted with one (or both) of them or into a home that already has a kitten or young cat — because every hero needs a trusted companion! 🐈🐈‍⬛

This good boy is current on vaccinations, has tested negative for FIV/FeLV, and his adoption fee includes his neuter surgery and microchip — everything he needs to begin his next great adventure: life with you!

If you’re looking for a playful, affectionate little sidekick who’s equal parts bold explorer and sweet snuggler, Griffin is ready to be your loyal friend. 🐾

If you’re located in Ohio, and you’re interested in meeting/adopting Griffin, submit an application via our website. Applicants can also request to foster-to-adopt (meaning a cat can be fostered on a trial basis before making a decision to adopt). Note that a verifiable vet history is required, and an application must be submitted prior to arranging a meeting. Email [email protected] with any questions.

Please welcome Tom Collins to DHR. He’s a shy fry but we think he will come around after he is done decompressing. He’s just a one year dachshund fresh from a puppy mill and, surrendered to a vet because they didn’t want to breed him. Imagine that…makes us wonder if there isn’t something more to the story. He is a distinguished gentleman. He is in a foster home and will not be ready for adoption until his neuter and vetting is complete. We will post him to our page when he is ready to begin taking adoption applications.
