Today we honor the life of Koda, a beautiful Labrador/Great Pyrenees/Akita mix rescue dog. Her parents first met her five years ago when they fostered her, nourishing her back to health from a case of severe heartworm disease. After she completed her grueling treatment, Koda was healthy again and by that point, her foster family could not part with her and decided to make her a permanent member of their family. Koda was a sassy girl and also extremely sensitive with children, even worrying when a child cried on TV. She loved trips to the park for the fresh sniffs. Rest easy, sweet pup.

We fondly remember Gunner, a dashing rescue pup who quickly won the hearts of his family members. Gunner's amiable personality brought people and dogs together in his neighborhood. Gunner exemplified great courage and fortitude, notably when he survived a complicated surgical removal of his spleen a few months ago. His family cherished this additional time with him. Rest easy, sweet boy. You are lovedđŸ©·đŸŸ

Bear, a mighty handsome Great Dane, joined his family when he was about 12 weeks old. He weighed about 30 lbs as a puppy, and he grew to be one of the most important family members. A loving, faithful boy, Bear was the mayor of his neighborhood. His family thought he would have made the ideal Walmart greeter! At his last vet visit to his veterinary hospital, the entire staff of over 20 people came to say their farewells, as they had known him for all of his 10 amazing years. Even a neighborhood landscaper came to say his goodbyes to gentle giant Bear. When it was time for Bear to be at peace, he laid in his favorite sunny spot on the sofa and was showered with love from his entire family. The shadow of his Mom’s cross reflected on Bear right after he gained his wings, as if it were a sign letting his family know that he is at peace and will be looking after them in Heaven. He will be forever missed here on Earth.

Today we honor the life of Lucy, a sweet girl who joined her family when she was an eleven-month old puppy. She grew into a beautiful dog who became the alpha of the house. The other furry companions in the home looked up to her for guidance and reassurance. Her athletic nature shined when she was out running, often sprinting, and swimming. Rest easy, good girl.

Coco joined her family when she was just a tiny pup, full of love and always eager for cuddles. In another life, she would have made a wonderful caregiver—she took such good care of her humans and her furry sibling. Without a doubt, she was the queen and alpha of the house. She adored her brother from another mother, teaching him everything she knew. The bond she shared with her family was unbreakable. Though she will be dearly missed, her memory will live on forever in their hearts.đŸ©·đŸŸ

Sophie wasn’t just the best girl—she was the heart of the family. A steady rock through every storm, she took care of them all in her own fiercely loving way. With her strong, bossy personality, she ruled the household—not with demands, but with an unshakable devotion that made everyone adore her.
She lived for her daily walks, her tail wagging with excitement at the sight of a leash, as if every stroll was the greatest adventure. And when her time came, the love she had given was returned tenfold. Her farewell was beautiful, surrounded by so many people whose lives she had touched. There were treats, gentle strokes, and whispered goodbyes—even Dad, in a moment of tender sweetness, gave her a few licks of bear.
I am sure she is incredibly missed, the love she gave remains, forever woven into the hearts of those who were lucky enough to know her.đŸ©·đŸŸ

Today, we paws to remember and honor the brave men and women who gave everything in service to our country. Memorial Day is not just about a long weekend — it's about reflecting on the true cost of freedom and the sacrifices made by those who never came home.

To the fallen, and to their families: we are forever grateful. Your courage, your service, and your legacy will never be forgotten. ❀đŸ‡ș🇾

Let us remember them not just today, but every day.

Miya's journey began on a cold, stormy, snowy day—a day when most would be looking for shelter. But Miya, brave and trusting, found something even better: a forever home. Among a group of stray kitties, she was the one who followed her soon-to-be mom to the car. And when the door opened, Miya didn’t hesitate—she hopped right in, choosing love, safety, and a new beginning.

Miya was calm, serene, and sweet-natured—always content to simply be close. Though soft-spoken, she had a spark in her spirit. Especially when her sister Midnight, now also in heaven, would playfully provoke her—then Miya’s feisty side would shine through. A gentle heart, but never one to back down.

In another life, she surely would’ve been a nurse. She always seemed to know when someone needed comfort, and she gave it effortlessly. Taking care of people was her thing, and she did it beautifully.

Rest easy sweet Miya- you are so loved and missed đŸŸđŸ©·

Nacho was a rescue in name, but in truth, it was his family who were the lucky ones. From the moment he came home, he filled their lives with quiet joy, gentle love, and the kind of companionship that only a truly special dog can give.

The family would often say, “What did we do to deserve such a good dog?” And they meant it—because Nacho was one of a kind. He never had accidents in the house, always respectful and well-behaved, as if he knew how precious his home was.

He loved going for walks, not just for himself, but to keep his dad healthy—always reminding him it was time to stretch those legs and enjoy the fresh air. Nacho had a peaceful soul. He could spend hours just watching the front yard, mesmerized by squirrels and birds, content just to be present.

More than a pet, Nacho was a true friend. A steady presence, a soft nudge when you needed it, a warm heart always near.

He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. đŸ©·đŸŸ

My commitment

Hi I’m Dr. Heba, owner of Love & Dignity, a certified hospice and palliative care veterinarian with the IAAHPC.

After 13 years of “vetting”, I found my purpose in the last 4 years as a hospice and an end of life care veterinarian.

My commitment is to provide a compassionate, peaceful and gentle way to say goodbye to your pet in your home.

Understanding the unique and incredible bond you have with your pet is paramount to me.
