What Lauren enjoys most about working in veterinary medicine is that no two days are ever the same. She loves a good challenge, enjoys helping others, and is passionate about supporting teams both internally and externally.

Outside of work, Lauren enjoys cooking, baking, kickboxing, DIY projects, concerts, and spending time with family and friends. She also loves beach trips to Cape May, NJ and Ocean City, MD. While she is not currently a pet owner, she grew up with a Miniature Dachshund named Mocha and cannot wait to welcome a puppy into her family in the future.

Three days. One goal. Stronger leaders across the EverVet Pack 💙

Our inaugural Leadership Lab brought together support staff leaders from across our hospitals for a hands-on experience focused on growth, connection, and real-world leadership. Together, they explored self-awareness, built trust, practiced coaching, and leaned into the conversations that help teams grow stronger.

They also built something just as important — community.

A huge thank you to Jessica Wilson-Hess and Dr. Joanna Fry for bringing this experience to life and leading it with purpose.

Sometimes, one experience can shape an entire career. For Dr. Sandra Taketoshi, it was her childhood dachshund, Gahdhi. After suddenly becoming paralyzed, he underwent spinal surgery, and the compassion and care shown by his veterinary team left a lasting impression that would shape her future.

Today, Dr. Taketoshi brings that same level of empathy and dedication to every patient she sees. We are proud to welcome her to the team at Animal & Bird Health Care Center & Hospital! 🐾

A graduate of the University of Florida, she has trained alongside renowned leaders in avian medicine and brings a special passion for caring for exotic pets, especially birds. She is excited to expand access to quality care for avian patients and support pet owners with thoughtful, personalized medicine.

💬 “I am so happy to have such a rewarding career. My clients and patients become family to me. It is wonderful to be able to help them in the dire need as well as keeping them healthy.”

Outside of the hospital, Dr. Taketoshi enjoys pickleball, movies, and exploring new cuisines, and she gives back through her work with Cape Atlantic Cats and Asbury Road Rescue.

Jessica Wilson-Hess, our Director of Technician Development, is officially a published author! She contributed to Small Animal Internal Medicine for Veterinary Technicians and Nurses, 2nd Edition, supporting Chapter 6 on Urinary and Renal Disease with her expertise in hematology for renal patients. It’s her first publication—and an exciting one, with EverVet represented in the book as well.
