Central Texas Animal Hospital Central Texas Animal Hospital opened in Pflugerville in 1980. We offer high quality veterinary care.

Central Texas Animal Hospital has been providing high-quality medical care for cats and dogs since 1980. Dr. Daryl Neans, our owner, started the practice in Pflugerville after graduating from Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine. We have 4 doctors who practice progressive Veterinary Medicine, including Extended Vaccine Protocols. We provide extensive laboratory services, including ultrasound,

radiology, and in-house bloodwork. We also provide dental care, surgical services, laser therapy, and wellness care. Our groomer, Janice Francis, has been with us for over 20 years. It is our goal to be a well-rounded resource for our clients.

Arthritis doesn’t always look like limping.

Sometimes it looks like hesitation.

Your dog may pause before jumping into the car, avoid stairs, rise slowly, sleep more, or seem less excited about walks.

A lot of pet parents assume those changes are just normal aging. Sometimes they’re signs of joint discomfort.

The good news is that support is available. A veterinary exam can help identify what’s going on and what options may improve your dog’s comfort.

If your dog has been moving differently, don’t ignore it.

What changes have you noticed as your dog has gotten older?

Today we’re celebrating Melissa.

Since 2015, she has been part of the care, communication, and steady support that help Central Texas Animal Hospital feel like home for so many pet families.

Veterinary medicine takes patience, compassion, teamwork, and a whole lot of heart. The people behind the scenes matter just as much as the moments clients see.

Melissa is part of what makes CTAH feel familiar, trusted, and loved.

Please help us celebrate her 11 year workiversary in the comments today.

Hi, Cane here.

My job is very serious.

I supervise the humans, inspect cozy nap spots, monitor hallway traffic, and make sure everyone understands that cats are naturally management.

Some days I greet visitors. Some days I observe from a distance. Some days I provide silent judgment, which is an important clinic service.

Life as the clinic cat at Central Texas Animal Hospital takes charm, timing, and excellent whiskers.

Indoor cats are safe from a lot.

They’re not safe from everything.

Dental disease, weight changes, arthritis, urinary issues, allergies, and age related health changes can still affect cats who never go outside.

Cats are also very good at hiding discomfort. By the time symptoms are obvious at home, a problem may already be more advanced.

Routine cat wellness exams help us catch subtle changes earlier and support a longer, healthier life.

If your indoor cat hasn’t had a checkup in a while, this is a gentle reminder.

What’s one strange habit your cat has that only your family understands?

Your pet notices when the house gets quiet.

Back to school season can be a big adjustment for dogs and cats who got used to summer routines, extra attention, and more time with the family.

Some pets may sleep more. Others may bark, chew, hide, pace, or act clingier than usual.

A little structure helps. Keep meals and walks consistent, offer enrichment toys, and give them calm attention before you leave and when you return.

If your pet’s behavior changes suddenly or feels extreme, our team can help you figure out what’s going on.

How does your pet handle the back to school routine?
