🧼🐾 It’s deep clean time, and we’re finally on the upswing of our kennel cough outbreak! 🎉 During this time, we’ve been extremely cautious to prevent the spread from building to building, which meant our poor pups had to stay inside and out of common areas. But now, we’ve reached a turning point—our containment building is ready for a deep clean, and our dogs can finally get outside to play! 🌞🐶

While we’re still being careful and not mixing all playgroups just yet, we’re so happy to see tails wagging and paws running free in the fresh air again. 🌿✨

A huge thank you to everyone who supported us during this time—whether by sending in-kennel enrichment, donating, or patiently waiting to bring your new best friend home. Your kindness means the world to us and, most importantly, to the dogs. ❤️🐾

Meet Moose, a uniquely handsome 74-pound Husky 🐺 with a personality as big as his zoomies! This confident, playful three-year-old is a treat-loving champ 🍖, making him eager to learn and show off tricks.

Moose adores other dogs 🐶 and is the life of the party, especially when squeaky toys are involved. Unlike most Huskies, he has fantastic leash manners and walks calmly by your side.

Full of charm and affection, Moose loves being the center of attention, giving hugs 🤗, and sharing kisses 💕. If you're looking for a fun-loving, well-mannered companion, Moose might just be your perfect match!

Remember those iconic school picture day portraits with the laser backgrounds? Well, imagine if our dogs got the same 90s glam treatment! 🌟🐶✨ These pups are serving major retro yearbook energy, and honestly, we’re obsessed. Because why should humans have all the fun when it comes to awkwardly amazing photo shoots? 😂 Who else had one of these legendary backdrops back in the day? Drop a 📸 in the comments if you did!

UPDATE: Every one of these dogs has a bed, blankets, food, and water (and even a toy). All items are in the front side of their kennel (because dogs will typically use the back side for potty). They have all chosen to hide in the back side of their kennel to get as far away from humans as possible. They are being monitored to make sure they are eating/drinking when it’s quiet and dark, and all of them are. They will begin to come to the front of the kennel as they begin to decompress. Stay tuned for updates.

It’s always heart-wrenching to witness the fear and distrust in the eyes of newly rescued dogs. Our latest group of Shih Tzus are so shut down and scared that they shy away from even the most tempting treats just to avoid human contact. Seeing their apprehension breaks our hearts, but we are filled with hope for their future. With time, love, and endless patience, we believe these precious souls will learn what kindness and gentleness feel like. They will discover that the world can be a loving place. Today marks the 18th anniversary of the day Theresa rescued Lily, the inspiring soul and founding spirit behind our mission. From that pivotal day to now, we’ve had the privilege of rescuing 23,160 dogs, each story touched by Lily’s legacy. It’s hard to believe it has been 18 years of relentless dedication, love, and community support, but here we are, driven forward by the memory of one very special little dog. We are deeply grateful for the unwavering support from each of you, our dedicated supporters. Thank you for being a part of this incredible journey. SENIOR SUNDAY – Meet Buster! 🐾

Buster is a 12-year-old, 6.9lb long-haired Chihuahua with a heart as big as his ears! This sweet and curious senior is settling into his foster home, learning to relax and enjoy the good life. He gets along well with other dogs and even cats—though he draws the line at sharing treats. 😆

Buster loves backyard adventures, especially rolling in the grass, and he’s starting to play and wag his tail more each day. With only a few teeth left, he still enjoys a good chew session. He’s picking up on home routines and is more than ready to be someone’s devoted little snuggle buddy. 💕

🐾 Yesterday, some of our newest arrivals experienced a small but life-changing transformation—bang trims! Many of these sweet souls were nearly sightless due to the neglect of their grooming. Without clear vision, every new sound and movement can be frightening.

✂️ Watch the light return to their faces, both literally and figuratively, as they’re finally able to see the world around them. This is just the first step on their path to healing. Full spa days are up next, where they’ll receive the complete care they’ve been denied for so long.

Pupdate for Zoey (NMDR Zsa Zsa)

“Hello everyone! Here’s a heartwarming update on Zoey (NMDR Zsa Zsa). We adopted her in August 2019 when she was around 13 or 14 years old. She immediately became my little girl, though she loves my daughter just as much. Zoey was in foster care with a lovely lady named Molly for about a week before she joined our family.

Zoey is truly the best little girl and has brought so much joy into our lives. She still isn’t a fan of fireworks and loud noises, shaking uncontrollably when scared. Stairs are a challenge for her, but that’s no trouble at all; she has us well-trained to carry her wherever she needs to go. She enjoys visits to grandma’s house and my boyfriend’s place, places she initially wasn’t too keen on.

Raising Zoey has been a lot of work, but the rewards of her love are immeasurable. She has a big appetite and loves to eat—food is definitely the way to her heart! Even if she doesn’t initially like someone, a little treat quickly turns them into her best friend, at least for the moment. After that, she’s right back by my side.

We love this little girl tremendously and are so grateful to NMDR for everything. I’ve attached updated pictures to her intake photos; who knew she would have such long hair? She is our sweet baby, and we cherish her deeply. Thank you, NMDR, for all you do.”

🐾 Last night, our newest arrivals experienced the simple joy of having their very own blankets for the first time. Placed within their kennels, these blankets offered a touch of comfort and security. For some, the soft fabric brought curious delight, while others, still wary and frightened by new experiences, took a little time before cautiously exploring their new warmth.

UPDATE: Jed has an adoption pending!

Highlight:
- Needs another more confident dog in home

Jed is a 1-year-old Shih Tzu weighing 14 pounds, and he's as playful as they come-especially with his dog friends! He thrives in the company of other dogs and will need another playful pup in his new home to help boost his confidence. Jed may be nervous around humans at first, but with another dog by his side, he's braver and more willing to interact with people.

In the play yard, Jed is the life of the party, always trying to get everyone to join in on the fun. He's super playful and loves to chase, wrestle, and have a good time with his dog friends. While he's still a bit unsure about pets, he's becoming more open to human interactions with each passing day. He's even starting to take treats from humans-a big step in learning that people can be kind and trustworthy.

Jed will need a patient family who understands his journey and is willing to work on showing him that humans are good. With time, love, and the companionship of a confident dog sibling, Jed will continue to blossom into the happy, playful pup he was always meant to be.
