After 12 years in a loving home, Frodo and Gizmo lost everything when their person passed away. Shuffled from place to place, they eventually ended up in the care of a breeder/hoarder—and through it all, they only had one another to cling to.

Now safe with us at NMDR Dogsville, these two seniors—Frodo, a 15 lb Beagle/Chihuahua mix, and Gizmo, a 7 lb Chihuahua—are ready for a fresh start… together. We know it in our hearts: these two belong side by side, just as they’ve always been.

They’re active, happy, and healthy, with fresh smiles thanks to recent dentals. Gizmo is a little more reserved at first and would likely do best with older kiddos, but both boys are loving, loyal, and ready to brighten someone’s world.

Help us give them the ending they deserve—one filled with warmth, stability, and love.

When Arden, a four-year-old Maltese, was first rescued, he was too scared to even be approached. After years of life without kindness or comfort, everything felt unfamiliar and overwhelming. But with time, patience, and the gentle care of our team, Arden is beginning to discover that the world isn’t so scary after all.

Today, he’s found joy in something many dogs take for granted—toys. Watching him explore and play is a beautiful reminder of how far love and trust can take a once-fearful heart. 💛

Here’s to Arden’s journey—and the many happy moments ahead.

🐾 It’s Walk Around Wednesday! 🐾

While our shelter is still temporarily closed for adoptions, we didn’t want to miss the chance to say hello and show you some of the sweet faces currently in our care. These precious pups are continuing to heal, rest, and get the love they need—and we’re getting closer every day to reopening adoptions!

Now’s the perfect time to submit your adoption application so you’re pre-approved and ready the moment these deserving dogs are. A completed application will help speed up the process once adoptions resume—and trust us, you’ll want to be ready.

From the depths of fear to the first signs of trust—this is Emmy’s story.

One of the severely neglected Schnauzers rescued in June, Emmy came to us terrified of human touch after years of isolation and hardship. At just three years old, she had never known kindness, and in those early days, fear made her defensive—even leading to bites when approached. But our incredible behavior team never gave up on her.

Today, after months of quiet work and compassionate care, Emmy achieved something amazing: she had her very first bath and groom without veterinary sedation. While clippers near her face were still too much, she allowed everything else. It was a moment full of courage, progress, and promise.

This kind of behind-the-scenes transformation is only possible because of your support. It’s not flashy, and it’s not always visible—but it’s everything to a dog like Emmy.

We are so proud of this brave little girl. She’s learning what it means to be safe—and deeply loved.

After facing so many challenges, Freida’s world just opened wide—and on wheels! 💛

Our sweet five-year-old Frenchie girl, who came to us paralyzed in her back legs, has officially gotten her wheelchair, and it’s already changing her life in the most beautiful ways. She’s zooming through the play yards with ease, and for the first time, she can really play ball—chasing, spinning, and beaming with joy.

Freida reminds us that no matter where you start, there’s always a path to something better. She may have rolled into this new chapter, but her happiness is in full sprint.

Stay tuned for more updates on this amazing girl… her story is far from over.

We may be on a temporary pause from rescues, intakes, and adoptions right now, but that doesn’t mean we’re slowing down behind the scenes. We’re working hard to prepare for the busy, life-changing days ahead once we’re able to reopen—and we could use your help!

We’re in high need of a few important items from our Amazon Wish List to support our foster homes, events, and the daily care of our dogs:

– Puppy pads (disposable for events and washable for fosters)
– Male wraps (disposable and washable, with liners)
– New clippers for our grooming room
– And of course, treats—to bring comfort and joy to dogs as they wait for homes

If you’d like to help us get ready for a strong comeback, check out our wish list here:

Every donation helps us care for the dogs already in our program and gets us one step closer to saving even more once we reopen. Thank you for standing with us. 💛

Watching our dogs discover the joy of toys is one of the best feelings in the world. 🧸✨

For many of them, this is the first time they’ve ever had something just for fun. At first, they’re not quite sure what to do with it. Some figure it out on their own. Some learn by watching their friends play. But no matter how it happens, the moment it clicks is pure magic.

Seeing that spark of happiness — that freedom to play — is a small but powerful victory, and an important step in their healing journeys. 💛

💜 Senior Sunday Spotlight: Meet Benjamin! 💜
(Young senior. Old soul. Professional observer.)
📍Peyton, CO

Benjamin is a 7-year-old Poodle weighing just 9.4 pounds—basically pocket-sized wisdom wrapped in curls. 🐩✨ As a proud young senior, Benjamin prefers to take things slow. Very slow. Like “I’ll watch you for a bit before deciding if you’re cool” slow.

He’s naturally shy and cautious, but don’t mistake that for a lack of personality. Once he feels safe, his curious side peeks out and he settles in for what he does best: quiet companionship, thoughtful side-eye, and supervising the room like a tiny, fluffy security guard. 👀💕

Benjamin isn’t into chaos, surprise visitors, or high-speed living. He prefers calm energy, gentle introductions, and someone who understands that trust is earned—not rushed. Think peaceful home, soft voices, and lots of reassurance (and maybe a comfy spot to observe life from).

With patience and love, this young senior will blossom into a loyal, affectionate best friend—one who may not run the marathon, but will absolutely steal your heart. 💜

If you have a calm home and a kind heart, Benjamin is ready to quietly move in and supervise your daily routine. 🐾✨

Come meet Benjamin and give this sweet young senior the fresh start he deserves 💜

Visit our Available Dogs page to meet Benjamin and all of our incredible adoptable dogs patiently waiting for their own new beginning. 🐾✨
