BIG News! Meet Sam Schulman, aka Sam the Turtle Man. 🥰🐢 Sam will be heading our Texas division and is available for bookings! Besides being one of our wildlife educators, Sam is an animal content creator with degrees in biology and Spanish. If your event needs to be in Spanish, Sam is your man!

We absolutely love Sam, and are thrilled to have him on board! If you would like to book, please contact us via email, phone, website, or through social media.

We sometimes wonder where Butters, our Quince Monitor, disappears to. Mystery solved. It appears she is partly fossorial. 😆

I have received phone calls every day for the past two weeks from people needing to find new homes for their pets. We try and help them as much as we can by spreading the word, giving advice, and when we have space (very rarely), we can take them in.

Meet Frankie, a gorgeous female red ear slider. Their child could not take their pet to college, so they are looking for a new home for Frankie. If you are seriously interested, please let us know and we can get you into contact with the owner. We have a list of red ear sliders that need new homes, so if you are looking for a pet turtle, please contact us!

A huge thanks to TILT for the donation of produce to the animals. It is so appreciated! I would also like to say your staff and volunteers were amazing. 🥰 Thank you for everything.

There are many materials that can make a great enclosure for bearded dragons: wood, glass, pvc, greenhouses, etc. We do not recommend keeping your bearded dragons in bird cages. Talk with your breeder about an appropriate set up for your new pet. A good breeder will help you with care information BEFORE your pet comes home.

The alien face of the Tiger Salamander. Being primarily fossorial, these predators enjoy meals of earthworms, insects, crickets, small frogs, and other salamanders. If you are lucky, you can find them migrating to (fishless) ponds and vernal pools in late winter and early spring. Tiger salamanders have the amazing ability to absorb oxygen directly through their permeable skin, helping them breathe while buried deep underground. Eastern Tiger Salamanders are an endangered species in New York state.

Flashback time! We were working an event in South Carolina for Tommy Campbell's Wild Reptile Adventure. Pictured is Safari Seth. I remember that day well. That was the day I MADE my father touch Margo, the Morelets Crocodile. He wasn't very pleased. 😆

Is there anything cuter than the "smile" of a Siebenrock Snakeneck Turtle? You can see our snakeneck turtles at our zoo, or you can request one for your school event, birthday party, etc. 😊🐢

Jesse is one of our Sonoran Gopher Snakes, with her exact locality being the Christmas Mountains of west Texas. And yes, those are cowgirl boots in her exhibit. As Woody from Toy Story says, "There's a snake in my boot!" Both her and Woody, our male Sonoran Gopher Snake, DO sleep in their boots!
