Pets Alive WNY Formerly known as Buffalo Humane, Pets Alive WNY expanded to Niagara County in 2011

Our mission is to promote and protect the health, safety, and welfare of pets and people by taking in and placing homeless companion animals, encouraging and supporting spay/neuter, providing community outreach to ensure proper animal stewardship, and promoting rational and effective animal care and control policies at all levels of government.

Let’s kick off Adopt a Senior Pet Month with some amazing news! 💓 Our beautiful Tori has found her furever home! 🎉

Tori came back to the shelter at almost 9 years old after her beloved owner passed away 😢 Sadly, no one in the family was able to take her in. And after spending years in a quiet, loving home, the transition to shelter life was incredibly hard on her 😿 She was scared, stressed, and over time, began to shut down. And unfortunately, her story is one we see all too often with senior pets 💔

But Tori’s story has the happiest of endings! 💖 A kind-hearted woman read her story, saw that sweet little face, and knew she wanted to give Tori the love and comfort she deserves for the rest of her life! We’re beyond grateful for her compassion and her choice to open her heart to a senior kitty! 💞

As we celebrate Adopt a Senior Pet Month, let’s remember that age is just a number! And sometimes, the best companions come with a little extra wisdom and a few gray hairs! 🐾✨

Make sure to shower your feline friends with extra love, snuggles, and catnip today! 💕 And if you really want to celebrate in a special way, consider adopting one of our shelter kitties so they can join the festivities in a loving home next year! 🏠🥰

Speaking of adoptable cats… our handsome mascot Yoda (pictured here lounging like royalty 👑) is still looking for his kingdom! He loves attention (whether it’s good or bad 😉) and will happily drape himself around your shoulders like a living, purring scarf to keep you cozy on these chilly fall nights! 🧣😽

Yoda does great with dogs and people but insists on being your one and only cat! 😼

📣 We Need Volunteers! 📣

Did you know that Pets Alive WNY is 100% volunteer-run?! We have no paid employees, which means every clean kennel, every full belly, and every happy adoption happens thanks to the hard work and dedication of our amazing volunteers! 💓

We’re looking for new team members to join us at our cat shelter located at 7007 Campbell Blvd, North Tonawanda, NY 14120.

We have opportunities for every skill set:
🐱 Direct Cat Care: cleaning kennels, doing laundry and dishes, sweeping/vacuuming, trimming nails, and helping with medications.
💻 Administrative Help: entering medical records, completing adoptions, and helping with computer work.
🎟️ Fundraising & Grants: organizing events, writing grants, and spreading the word about our mission.

Whether you love hands-on animal care, have a knack for organization, or enjoy event planning, we have a role for you! 🩷

If you’re interested in volunteering, stop by the shelter Tuesday through Friday between 4 PM – 7 PM to apply in person and see what we do!

Together, we can keep saving lives, one cat at a time! 💕🐈‍⬛

Did you know black cats are often the last to be adopted? 😿 Sadly, old superstitions and the misconception that their sleek black coats are “plain” mean these beautiful felines are sometimes overlooked in favor of their more colorful counterparts 💔

But we know the truth! Black cats are anything but ordinary! 💓 They’re elegant, mysterious, and often some of the most affectionate companions you’ll ever meet! 💕 Whether they’re curling up in your lap or showing off their shiny mini panther moves, they bring endless love and charm to any home! 🥰

Right now, we have at least a dozen black kittens and cats waiting at the shelter for their chance to shine! 🌟 Apply online to come and meet your new best friend! 🖤🐈‍⬛
