Before I became a mom, I was worried my dreams would have to die once kids came around.
The horses would leave, the adventures diminish, the goals fade. Many said it would be too hard, that you can’t be a good mom & horse trainer.
For a moment, I believed them. I lived in fear that once I saw those two tiny hands, the life I had built would disappear.
Then I held her in my arms for the first time— a feeling of love I will never forget. I knew from then on I wanted to share every ounce of what shaped me & taught me & drove me to be the person I am, with this little girl.
No matter how hard it was, no matter how many tears & sleepless night, that I wasn’t going to let the “hard” overtake me.
My goals are still big, my dreams are still wild, but the destination far greater than it ever was before.
The journey may be a little different- slightly slower, maybe some detours, snack breaks & nap time, but that doesn’t bother me.
There is no time frame. Because now it’s not just me- my family gets to come with me. & what great gift from God could I ever ask for.
You know what? I am still a good mom, & a good horse trainer.
I give thanks to God every day for giving me the courage to do what others say can’t be done.
