We laughed, we cried, we collected approximately 4 million pieces of dog hair on our clothes — and we wouldn’t change a thing. So many amazing stories found their happy endings this year… but a few are still waiting for their final chapter.

One of those stories?
Snowball. ❄️💙

Snowball arrived in December 2024 as an adorable 8-week-old fluff, and she has spent every day of 2025 growing up with us — learning, loving, and waiting.

She’s shy and nervous with new people (relatable), but with a little patience and time to warm up? She becomes the ultimate ride-or-die companion. Once you’re “her person,” you’re her person — no take-backs.

✨ Her story isn’t over… and maybe 2026 is the year she finally gets to go home. ✨

👉 Snowball meets are by appointment only so she can take introductions at her own pace and show you her best side without the crowd.

These two 8-month-old Siamese mixes are bonded besties who’ve perfected the art of side-eyeing strangers and loving each other fiercely. They’re shy at first (big “observe from the cat tree” energy), but once they feel safe, their sweet sides start to shine through like little furry lanterns. 🕯️🐾

Winnie & Wakefield are looking for a calm, patient home where someone understands that trust takes time… but wow, is it worth it. If your household leans more peaceful evenings than crowded parties, these two might just be your perfect match. 🛋️🌙

I’m Boyd, your future best bud and professional tail-wagger. I’m a 1-year-old beagle mix, which means I’ve perfected the arts of sniffing, snuggling, and looking adorable when you’re holding food.

I’ve been practicing my “please love me” eyes in the mirror, and trust me… they’re devastatingly effective. 😎
I’m friendly, playful, and ready to be your partner in crime — or at least your partner in couch time.

These two 2-year-old chi mixes might be small in size, but trust us… their personalities are ready for prime time!

Kyle is the “let me sniff you first” kinda guy – a little shy at the jump, but once he decides you’re cool, his tail starts practicing its helicopter routine 🚁💞

Carl’s on the same vibe – cautious at first, then suddenly he’s curled up in your lap wondering when snacks will arrive. We don’t blame him. Snacks are life. 😅

I’m 4 months old, rocking the catahoula mix life, and I just flew up here from Louisiana! ✈️
(Yeah… big trip for a little dude. I’m basically a seasoned traveler now.)

At first I might hang back and check things out—gotta make sure you’re cool 😅 But once I know you’re on Team Fink? Ohhh boy, I’m all wiggly butts and kisses.

This 4-month-old Catahoula mix might live up to her name… but in the best way possible 😄
Shock is a little shy when you first meet her — she likes to take a moment to scope things out. But give her a little time (and maybe a snack or two 👀), and BAM 💥 — she’s all over you with love, kisses, and puppy devotion.

OUR STORY

Happy Life Animal Rescue (HLAR) is a nonprofit, foster-based, animal rescue organization. HLAR is located in Patterson, New York, and serves the Hudson Valley. We are dedicated to rescuing homeless animals who are victims of abuse & neglect, shelter overpopulation, and owner surrender. We are also committed to promoting local spay/neuter programs.

Ultimately, we hope to work with other rescues and humane organizations in finding forever homes for as many animals as possible. We rely solely on donations in order to continue to rescue and we receive no local or federal funding for our work.
