The 2026 Play for the Paws Tournament is happening on July 25th at James Day Park

This is more than just a softball tournament—it’s a community event packed with fun, raffles, and ways to support the animals of Parma Animal Shelter. This year’s theme is Christmas in July, and our goal is to raise $25,000 for the shelter!

🐾 Another Successful Open House in the Books! 🐾

Our third Open House was a success—and we even beat the storm! 🌦️

A huge thank you to our special guests who helped make the day memorable:

• Parma Fire Department Station 2
• Roscoe, our wonderful therapy dog
• Kevin Kussmaul, Parma Councilperson
• ACO Julie and ACO Laura
• Karen from Bartels Busack Pet Hospital / Kentown Animal Hospital
• Honey Hut Ice Cream

Despite the rainy forecast, we welcomed 42 visitors who toured the shelter, met our animals, and learned more about our mission.

Your time, energy, and compassion make events like this possible and help us continue caring for the animals who need us most. Thank you for being part of our shelter family! ❤️🐾

Meet Willie — the neighborhood legend turned loyal best friend! 🐾

At 2 years old and 40 lbs, Willie is a handsome Lab mix with quite the story. Before coming to safety, this clever boy spent time on the run and became a bit of a local celebrity with sightings all around the neighborhood. Now, he’s ready to trade his wandering days for the comfort of a home and a family of his own.

Willie arrived underweight and scared, and while he can still be a little shy, his sweet heart is already shining through. He loves being near people, leans in for head scratches, walks nicely on leash, and absolutely lights up when it’s time to chase tennis balls. 🎾

Willie would do best in a home with a secure fenced yard where he can decompress, feel safe, and settle into a predictable routine. Once he knows he’s home, we think his playful side will only continue to bloom.

Compatibility with dogs, cats, and children is currently unknown. A meet and greet is required for any resident dogs.

Willie is available through our foster-to-adopt program while he completes his routine vet care, including neuter surgery, vaccines, heartworm testing, and microchip.
