Please join us in welcoming Dr. Mark Waldrop to the VHC team!

Dr. Mark Waldrop got his DVM degree at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville in 1988.
He practiced in Nashville, TN until 1992 when he opened the Nashville Cat Clinic, Nashville’s first and only feline exclusive practice.
Dr. Waldrop retired and sold his practice in November 2024. Having reconnected with a high school friend, he remarried and moved to Jonesboro in December 2024.
After retiring, he wanted to continue caring for animals and started filling in at our clinic part time.
In his free time, Dr. Waldrop and his wife enjoy traveling and playing pickleball.
He enjoys practicing bushcraft and survival skills and even appeared on Disney+ survival show “Called to the Wild” episode “Gimme Shelter”.

Protecting Pets from Cold Weather:

To protect pets from cold weather, follow these essential tips:
Bring pets indoors: Keep your pets inside during cold weather to prevent them from freezing, becoming disoriented, or being lost, stolen, injured, or killed.

Provide shelter: Ensure your pets have a dry, draft-free enclosure that is large enough to allow them to sit and lie down, but small enough to hold in their body heat.

Protect paws: Use pet-friendly ice melt products to avoid irritation from salt and other chemicals used to melt snow and ice.

Check for signs of cold-weather injury: Regularly inspect your pet's paws for signs of cold-weather injury or damage, such as cracked or bleeding paw pads.

Stay informed: Consult your veterinarian to determine your pet's temperature limits and adjust their outdoor time accordingly.

By following these steps, you can help ensure your pets' safety and well-being during the cold winter months.
