We may have a ride for Lucy the Angora, but we'll need a foster Kay Spence, and some assistance grooming or shaving her Sera Williams, Danielle Firechild McAcy, we're willing to pay! She may have to have a surgical shave on her underside Avian & Exotic Animal Hospital of Louisiana. Her owner has never found a groomer and she needs help! (And a new home)

There's another bun in need. Lafayette rescued stray is causing increased health issues in very elderly family dog.
We think we may have a foster for her, but we are waiting for news.

Today we had a meet and greet outside of Jefferson Feed/SPCA.
Bogey was the original candidate, but we brought along Rice cake and Dumpling, so the family could pick the one they liked best. It was a tie between Bogey and Rice cake. Bogey didn't make the cut, but they want to consider him if Rice cake doesn't work out. There's a very active six-year-old in the family and she has trouble controlling her excitement. Bogey was more relaxed, but I think they like the idea of how small Rice cake is. They understand that this is a trial period (Learn Before You Leap) to see if the bunny can adapt to the environment. Mom and dad liked both rabbits also so either way it's a win-win!

Well Miss Stella is home and has a recheck on the 12th, the same day as Cupcake and Southpaw get spayed and Poppa Oreo gets a health check. She'll finish out her meds and she should be good from there.

Ciabatta is still out in the pen, no worse for wear but I did throw an umbrella canopy over the corner where her food and litter box are, ...is, am...?

Since the AMAZING Maria Fomich and her magical bunny energy magnet has captured the elusive French Quarter Jazz Museum rabbit, we will schedule "Frenchie" for her exam and spay. She is very much like the Car lot bunnies; long and lean and fast!

Next we will have Snowy and Brownie in for a health check so they can go charm a new family.

Lucy the English Angora in Bossier La will need a professional grooming/shave and hopefully find a wool-savvy family after we figure out how to get her down here.
Somewhere in the middle of all that, I will have a tune up surgery on my knee and whatever comes next so I can get back to work and support these furry dependents.

It has been nothing short of a miracle that everything the rescue has done lately is (mostly) paid for. What a PHENOMENAL community we have!!!

I am so humbled at the generosity that surrounds all of the cotton tailed critters in our care. Big hugs to all!

This 3 month old boy was found in the Touro Hospital garage. He did not drive himself to the 3rd level, he has no home. The kind woman who captured him has 2 "rabbit dogs", so he'll need somewhere to crash ASAP where he can be safe and relax.

I do not have a place to physically put another bun right now. I'd be happy to supply a foster family with all they'd need, and provide bun support under the rescue.

The rescue community is inundated with requests and reports of rabbits in need every day, sometimes several times a day. We all have limits. That's why we need foster families to step up and help us get these rabbits to a safe indoor space and share the love!

Saying yes to every rabbit in trouble is a recipe for disaster. We are stretched to the limit (we're a group of several rescuers in a chat group), we are getting bombarded with requests few of us have resources to fill.

People are dumping pets in construction areas, woods, near high traffic areas, parking garages, school yards, public parks, and leaving them at the properties they have moved from. A growing number are being surrendered due to finances, illness, and other circumstances. It's worse this year than ever.

Don't get a pet if you don't plan on being responsible LONG TERM. Never expect a young person to be 100% responsible for the needs and enrichment of another living being.
Don't ever set a domestic rabbit loose in the neighborhood, and don’t allow your pets to wander off your property.
So many tragedies could be avoided if people would think things through before a cute face influences a bad decision.

I opened the security gate so Ciabatta could explore. She made some string poops, so she had been shedding heavily before we got her. I was able to give her a few head pets once she realized I wasn't a threat

Stella's spay and polyp removal went well. Doctor Hebert removed 90% of the polyp! We will get an update in the morning. Our new rescue, Ciabatta, will be spayed Monday Nov 2nd, and our 2 Senior Lionhead ladies will be spayed November 12th
