🎃 Can you help us make a little magic for Remus today? 🪄🖤✨

Some stories begin in places no animal should ever have to call home. Remus’s did.

On August 18, Remus came into our care after being rescued from a hoarding situation. His kennel had to be broken open just to get him out. He was barely half the weight he should have been, and the world he knew was one of fear, uncertainty, and not nearly enough.

Since then, Remus has been learning something entirely different.

That food will come when he’s hungry. That a soft bed is his to sleep in. That gentle hands aren’t something to fear. That he can finally exhale.

His incredible foster family has helped him make tremendous strides, giving him the time, patience, and love he needed to discover that life doesn’t have to be so scary.

And now this boy is ready to put his haunted past behind him.

Remus is ready for his forever. And we’d really love for his next chapter to be the best one yet. We'll need you to make an appt to visit Remus since he's currently off site but he would love to meet his new BFF! 🧡

Our pups had the sweetest time visiting the residents of Endless Journey Hospice this week.

There’s something pretty special about watching a rescue dog soak up attention, make new friends, and discover that sometimes the world is full of gentle hands, soft touches, and people who are just really happy to see them. 🥰💕

And in return? The smiles, laughter, a little companionship, and the heaviness of life lifted.🥹

For our pups, these outings are about more than getting out of the shelter. They’re opportunities to build confidence, experience new things, learn to trust, and get as much socialization as they can get.

And for the people they meet? It's a wonderful chance to bring extra joy and furry companionship along the way.

This is our mission in action, "Saving Lives. Connecting People and Pets."

Because rescue reaches so much further than the walls of our shelter. Sometimes it shows up with four paws, a wagging tail, and a whole lot of love to give. 🐾💕

💗 Kenzie update. 💗

Kenzie’s eye surgery went as well as we could have hoped. ❤️‍🩹

She looks so sad right now, and it’s hard to see her this way. But this is a step toward a better, more comfortable life for a girl who deserves so much goodness.

Now, we focus on healing. On rest. On comfort. On all the little things that will help Kenzie feel safe, loved, and ready for whatever comes next.

In the meantime, she’s getting all the love she could possibly ask for from her incredible foster mama, who is right there beside her through it all. 🥹

We can’t wait to see her on the other side of this, feeling better and ready to enjoy the life she deserves.

Our sweet Miles. 🥹

Miles was recently returned to our care after his previous family received DNA test results they weren’t expecting.

We get asked these questions all the time: How big will they get? What are they mixed with? How old are they?

As a rescue, we do our best to share what we know and make educated guesses based on the information we’re given. Sometimes, that information is limited. And sometimes, a DNA test comes back with a few surprises. 😅

But we think one of the joys of rescue is embracing a little bit of the unknown. Watching a puppy grow into the dog they’re meant to be is part of the adventure. Sometimes, the surprise is just a little bigger than expected.

So, what makes up our Miles?

🐾 45% American Pit Bull Terrier
🐾 28% Labrador Retriever
🐾 12% Miniature Shepherd
🐾 12% Supermutt

But here’s what his DNA can’t tell you: what a loyal companion he’ll be, how much joy he’ll bring into your home, or just how quickly that head tilt is going to become your favorite thing.

Our staff have spent extra time getting to know Miles, and so far, the results are in: 100% puppy cuteness. He’s the perfect mix of playful and cuddly, curious and busy, with eyes that might just make you forget what you were doing in the first place.

He’s been out in the community and on puppy playdates, getting valuable socialization and experiencing more of the world. Like any puppy, he’ll benefit from training classes, a little patience, and someone willing to help him navigate all the wonderful (and occasionally chaotic) parts of growing up.

If you’re a fan of bully breeds, appreciate a good head tilt, and believe the best things in life don’t always come with a detailed forecast, we think Miles might just be your guy. 💕🐾

Some days, rescue is beautiful. Some days, it absolutely breaks your heart. And most days, it’s a little of both. ❤️

Between all of the work on our New Dog Kennel Facility, juggling the daily needs of the animals in our care, beginning to plan for a cat house that cannot weather another storm, caring for three acres of property and 40 year old buildings, there’s never a dull moment around here.

Add the animals who leave a permanent mark on our hearts, it’s a job that asks a lot of the people who do it.

But through all of it, there’s something we never want to take for granted... all of the incredible people who help us carry our mission forward.

The people who celebrate our wins, share in our heartbreak, volunteer their time, support us when we need it the most, drop off food, help with our events, cheer us on, and remind us that this work matters.

You may never see the moment a frightened animal finally feels safe, a family finds the help it needs, a Veteran meets their new best friend, or a long-awaited building milestone becomes reality. But you’re part of those moments, too.

You are behind every success, big and small. And we hope you know that we see it, we feel it, and we are so very grateful for it.

Today, we just wanted to pause (something we never take the time to do) 😅 to say thank you. No big announcement. No ask. Just a reminder that we’re incredibly fortunate to have you in our corner.
