🚨 Warning for pet owners: spring is here, and so are the snares. This dog was brought in after their leg was caught in one 😞

As you hit the trail this weekend, keep your dog leashed or close by and don’t let them roam off-trail.

Snares are commonly used to catch wildlife like wolves and foxes, and small game like rabbits and squirrels. But these traps don’t discriminate. Curious dogs who wander off-trail can end up seriously injured.

We had some very special visitors at Tier 1 Veterinary Medical Center! 🩺🐾

A group of local homeschoolers stopped by for a hands-on tour of our hospital, and our team had an absolute blast showing them what veterinary medicine is all about. From using a microscope to helping us treat a “patient” (a very brave stuffed pup), these future leaders got an up-close look at what it means to care for animals with compassion and skill.

It was an honor to share our passion and (hopefully!) spark a few dreams along the way, because you never know which little learner will grow up to wear the stethoscope.

A huge thank you to the families who joined us, and for the sweetest thank-you card and photo collage ever! 💛

"My two dogs, kitten, two birds, and snake suffered severe smoke inhalation, and Tier 1 was the only place open. They were able to see us right away and got my dogs (who'd gotten the worst of the smoke) immediately into an oxygen tank.

The techs and the doctor were incredibly kind and funny, and they explained everything very clearly. It was super helpful for me, especially during such a stressful time.

We ended up staying nearly three hours after they had closed and the entire time the vets were the most gracious and hospitable people ever. Savannah in particular was amazing. Without her humor, I don't know how I would've made it through everything.

If anyone is struggling to decide where to take their fur babies, this is the best option in Alaska."
