🐾 EDUCATION MOMENT: FPV & DOGS 🐾

Dog lovers, this one’s for you! ❤️🐶

FPV is primarily a cat virus and does not typically make dogs sick like canine parvo. However, dogs can potentially carry contaminated material on their paws, fur, shoes, clothing, or belongings and move it elsewhere.

🐱 CAT PARENTS: Check those vaccines! Make sure your cats are current on their FVRCP vaccine, which protects against feline panleukopenia (FPV). If you're unsure when your cat was last vaccinated, call your veterinarian.

🐶 DOG PARENTS: Keep your dogs current on their core vaccines, including parvo, and avoid f***s, sick animals, and known contaminated areas.

🧼 Wash hands, change shoes/clothing when appropriate, and properly disinfect equipment between animals.

No panic. Just prevention.

Protect the cats. Protect the dogs.
Protect the community. ❤️🐱🐶

🚨🚨 BREVARD COUNTY — THIS IS YOUR 9 AM EMERGENCY ALERT. 🚨🚨

FPV HAS BEEN CONFIRMED IN ANOTHER SHELTER FACILITY IN BREVARD COUNTY.

I REALLY DID NOT WANT TO BE MAKING THIS POST.

I was hoping we would somehow be the exception.

We aren't.

I will NOT be naming the facility. That is their information to release, and they have indicated they will be making their own announcement at 9:00 AM.

But I will tell you this:

This is real.
This is happening here.
And our community needs to pay attention NOW.

Through our communications with UF, we have been tracking the movement of feline panleukopenia virus—FPV—as it continues moving north from South Florida into Central Florida.

There are confirmed cases in Indian River County.

Now there are confirmed cases in Brevard County.

And Ark Angels was the first confirmed shelter-scale case publicly identified here in Brevard.

We sounded the alarm because we wanted people testing.

And people DID start testing.

That matters.

Because we are now confronting the possibility that FPV may already be circulating in our community—potentially present in cats that appear completely healthy.

That is why this is an emergency.

🛑 STOP. CHECK YOUR PET'S VACCINES.

Pull out the records.

Look at the dates.

If your cat's FVRCP isn't current, call your veterinarian.

If your dog's DHPP/distemper-parvo vaccine isn't current, call your veterinarian.

If you don't know whether they're current:

FIND OUT.

Do not assume.

Feline panleukopenia is caused by feline parvovirus. It is highly contagious and can be devastating, particularly to kittens and unvaccinated cats.

And right now, vaccination is one of the most important tools we have to protect the animals we love.

If you cannot afford vaccines or veterinary care:

ASK FOR HELP.

Reach out to rescues.
Reach out to clinics.
Reach out to community organizations.
Reach out to people who can help.

Do NOT stay silent because you're embarrassed.

Do NOT wait until your animal is critically ill.

And if your animal becomes sick, CALL A VETERINARIAN BEFORE EXPOSING OTHER ANIMALS.

We need people thinking about quarantine, exposure, sanitation, testing, and veterinary guidance.

Because this virus doesn't care which rescue you support.

It doesn't care which shelter you use.

It doesn't care who likes who.

It doesn't care about your drama.

It cares about finding the next susceptible animal.

So maybe—just maybe—we can put the bu****it aside for a minute.

Because this is where rescue is supposed to become a community.

Not competing organizations.

Not people throwing rocks from the sidelines.

Not people hiding information because they're afraid of looking bad.

Not people pretending they have everything under control when they need help.

TRANSPARENCY SAVES LIVES.

ACCOUNTABILITY SAVES LIVES.

COMMUNICATION SAVES LIVES.

If you have a problem, say something.

If you have an exposure, say something.

If you need help, ASK.

If you don't know what to do, ASK.

And if you have knowledge, TEACH.

Don't hoard information.

Don't gossip behind closed doors.

Don't wait until the damage is done.

STEP UP.

Because nobody should be fighting this alone.

And nobody should be afraid to ask for help.

Ark Angels will do everything we reasonably can.

If we have what you need, we'll help.

If we don't have it, we'll help you find it.

If you need to fundraise, we'll help you fundraise.

If we can connect you with a resource, we'll make the connection.

We are going to keep testing.

We are going to keep learning.

We are going to keep communicating.

And we're going to keep fighting for these animals.

But we cannot do this alone.

BREVARD — THIS IS YOUR WARNING.

Protect your animals.

Check your records.

Get them vaccinated.

Take illness seriously.

Ask questions.

Tell the truth.

Help your neighbor.

And for the love of every animal depending on us—

LET'S ACT LIKE A COMMUNITY.

We don't have to agree on everything.

We don't have to like everyone.

But right now?

We damn sure need to stand together.

Godspeed, everyone.

We got this.

RACHEL FROM HUMANE SOCIETY OF SOUTH BREVARD & JEN FROM HOPE FOR BREVARD — THANK YOU. ❤️

This morning, I needed guidance.

So I went hunting for it. 😂

I knew my odds were pretty damn good at Brevard Spay Neuter Clinic during the morning rush, and sure enough, I found two women willing to stop, listen, and help me work through what we're dealing with.

Rachel and Jen, your impact on me went far beyond the advice you gave me.

I walked in carrying questions, pressure, and uncertainty.

I walked out feeling supported, steadier, and a whole lot less alone.

You didn't judge me for not having every answer.

You didn't tell me everything I should have done differently.

You helped me figure out what to do next.

That's mentorship.
That's leadership.
That's rescue community.

And now, a word to the peanut gallery. 👀

If you think Ark Angels is doing something wrong, that's okay.

But if you have the experience, knowledge, or resources to know there's a better way?

STEP UP.

Teach us.
Message us.
Share the resource.
Tell us what you'd do differently — and WHY.

Because we're not interested in pretending we know everything.

We're interested in learning.

But sitting on the sidelines, dissecting decisions and waiting for your chance to say “I told you so”?

That doesn't save an animal.

So if you have something constructive to offer:

Our door is open.

Want to teach? Teach.
Want to mentor? Mentor.
Have a resource? Share it.
Think you can help? Come stand beside us.

But if all you have is criticism from the sidelines?

Bring something to the table or take a seat.

We're going to keep learning.
We're going to keep asking questions.
We're going to keep showing up for the animals.

Rachel and Jen — thank you for doing that for me today. ❤️

Thank you for listening.
Thank you for sharing what you know.
Thank you for making a hard morning feel lighter.

You reminded me that experience doesn't have to be a weapon.

It can be a lifeline.

That's the rescue community Ark Angels wants to build.

If you have the knowledge to help, step up. If you don't, step aside. The animals don't have time for the peanut gallery. 🐾

🚨🪽 ARK ANGELS BREAKING NEWS NETWORK 🪽🚨

🚨 WE NEED OUR PEOPLE. THIS IS NOT A DRILL. 🚨

Okay, real talk.

ARK Angels is currently dealing with a suspected FPV exposure/concern.

NOT a confirmed outbreak.

But we're taking it seriously.

We're increasing quarantine and sanitation protocols, disinfecting, monitoring the cats, and stocking up on PPE, testing supplies, medical supplies, cleaning supplies, and everything else we may need to respond quickly.

Because with FPV, we'd rather be overprepared than caught with our pants down.

Yesterday alone?

💸 $617 in emergency supplies.

And we're still ordering.

This is happening while I'm still looking for a job, our 501(c)(3) is pending, and a lot of rescue expenses are coming directly out of pocket.

And just to be clear:

THIS IS NOT ENYA'S FUNDRAISER.

Her FIP treatment and medical expenses are separate.

THIS FUNDRAISER IS FOR ARK ANGELS' EMERGENCY RESPONSE.

🧼 Sanitation & disinfection
🧤 PPE
🧪 Testing & medical supplies
🏥 Emergency veterinary needs
🐾 Quarantine & rescue operations
🍽️ Food & essential care

We're buying the supplies.
We're doing the work.
We're protecting the cats.
We're figuring it out.

We just need our community to help carry some of the weight.

Because the cats don't care about paperwork.

They don't care about opinions.

They just need somebody to show up.

And we will. 🪽🐾

🪽🏴‍☠️ ROUGH SEAS, BABY. WE’RE STILL HERE. 🏴‍☠️🪽

Okay, Angels. Let’s clear something up because apparently the gossip is traveling faster than the facts.

FPV has NOT been confirmed in an Ark Angels cat.

The concerning test was done on a cat in one of our foster homes who was not originally an Ark Angels cat. We saw a red flag, took it seriously, and immediately looped in UF Shelter Medicine. We’re following guidance, taking precautions, and preparing appropriately while we figure this out.

But here’s what matters:

That foster said, “I need help.”

So we showed up.

It didn’t matter that the cat didn’t start with us. That cat is an Ark Angels cat now. 🪽

We’re supporting our foster, and in the last 24 hours alone, we’ve spent $500–$600 preparing with PPE, cleaners, testing supplies, thermometers, syringes, and medical/supportive-care supplies.

Is it scary?

Absolutely.

But we’re choosing compassion over fear.

And honestly, the gossip is getting old.

If you think you know more than us, teach us.

If you’re a rescue veteran, lead.

If you have experience, resources, veterinary connections, supplies, or knowledge that can help—

LEND A HAND.

That’s what community is supposed to look like.

Not sitting behind closed doors gossiping, throwing rocks, and talking about why you won’t work with us while someone else is in the trenches doing the work.

That’s not leadership. That’s noise.

So if you’re here to help?

Come on. We’re listening.

But if all you’re bringing is gossip and judgment…

🍿 Enjoy your popcorn.

☕ Sip your tea.

And respectfully—

SHUT THE F**K UP WHILE WE DO THE WORK.

Because baby, we’ve hit rough seas. 🌊

But Ark Angels doesn’t abandon ship.

We listen to the experts.
We follow the facts.
We support our fosters.
We protect our cats.
And we keep showing up.

Compassion over fear.
Community over judgment.
Facts over rumors.
Cats first. Always.

🏴‍☠️🪽 That’s Ark Angels.

❤️🐾 A LETTER FROM ARK ANGELS 🐾❤️

To every shelter manager.

To every shelter board member.

To every animal welfare professional.

To every rescue.

To every foster.

To every volunteer.

To every trapper.

To every transporter.

To every veterinary professional.

To every person who has donated $5, shared a post, opened their home, offered advice, answered a desperate message, or simply told us, “Keep going.”

This is for you.

Ark Angels may have a name, a mission, and a dream—but we did not get this far alone.

Before there was an organization, there were people who believed in what we were trying to build.

People who saw our vision before it was polished.

People who trusted us with animals.

People who opened doors.

People who gave us chances.

People who encouraged us when the numbers were small and the resources were even smaller.

And people who reminded us that even when the work feels impossible, one life still matters.

We want you to know that we see you.

We see the long days.

We see the impossible decisions.

We see the kennel cleaning, the trapping, the transporting, the bottle babies, the emergency vet trips, the late-night calls, the fundraising, the paperwork, the heartbreak, the happy adoption photos, and everything in between.

We see the people who quietly keep animal welfare moving forward while very few people ever see what it costs.

And we are grateful.

So deeply grateful.

Every time someone believed in Ark Angels, they helped us take another step.

Every share helped.

Every dollar helped.

Every introduction helped.

Every piece of advice helped.

Every animal you trusted us with helped.

Every person who said “I believe in you” helped.

You helped us become something bigger than an idea.

And we're just getting started.

Our dream has always been bigger than simply rescuing animals.

We want to build a community where rescue organizations work together instead of against one another.

Where shelters aren't left carrying the entire weight alone.

Where volunteers feel valued.

Where difficult cats aren't forgotten.

Where the old, the frightened, the fractious, the overlooked, and the animals who need a little more time have someone willing to say:

“We'll try.”

And someday, when we look back at everything Ark Angels becomes, we will remember the people who believed in us before there was anything impressive to see.

You were here when it was just an idea.

You were here when we were figuring it out.

You were here when we stumbled.

You were here when we celebrated tiny victories like they were enormous.

And you were here when we kept getting back up.

We will never forget that.

To every single person who has believed in Ark Angels this far:

Thank you for carrying the light with us. 🕯️

We hope that someday, when you walk through the gates of everything we're working toward, you look around and realize:

You helped build this.

Not with bricks.

Not with money alone.

But with belief.

And when the day comes that we can finally stand together and look at the animals whose lives changed because we refused to give up, we'll know that none of us did it alone.

No one saves alone.
No paw walks alone.

With all of our hearts,

❤️🐾 Ark Angels TNR & Rescue
For the forgotten. For the overlooked. For the ones still waiting.
