Barb's Precious Rescue

Barb's Precious Rescue BPR is a safe haven for cats/kittens serving the Palatine/Inverness/Barrington areas.

Our mission at Barb’s Precious Rescue and Adoption Center is to create a safe and humane haven by providing medical attention, food, shelter and love for cats and dogs that have been abused, abandoned or neglected. We are a volunteer, not-for-profit, 501(C)(3) organization with all funds directly assisting our animals, and we are a no-kill facility. The animals in our care will be provided with a

safe, loving environment, and will ultimately be placed in a loving forever home. Our compassionate volunteers are committed to caring for and socializing our rescued friends. Our home-style open environment allows our healthy rescue animals to enjoy their transition in a cage-free environment. Sick or injured animals will be lodged in separate quarters where they have a quiet environment in which to recover before being placed for adoption. All pets in our care will receive the specific and unique attention they require and deserve. We believe that every animal deserves the best care possible in an environment in which they can flourish. If you wish to provide a loving forever home for a cat or kitten currently in our care, please contact us today. And if you are interested in joining our volunteer family, we would welcome your assistance. Get the latest news and updates via Instagram or like us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/BarbsRescue.

✨ Milestone Alert ✨

The David Helt Veterinary Care Center continues to be a transformative force for Barb’s — reshaping what’s possible for accessible medical care and elevating the quality of life for every animal we serve.

Thanks to this remarkable resource, we’ve drastically reduced wait times for critical procedures like dentals, improving both comfort and long-term health outcomes.

Most recently, under the leadership of Dr. Monica Lachowsky, our volunteer veterinary team — supported by dedicated volunteers and aspiring veterinary professionals — completed annual wellness exams and vaccine updates for all 71 cats in our Teen Room.

An extraordinary milestone packed into a fourteen hour day — made possible by commitment, collaboration, and compassion. We are deeply grateful to everyone!

Construction Update!

Building Update – We need your help! Construction of the new building is progressing along. With plumbing, electrical and HVAC now complete, the focus has shifted to siding, drywall and interior finishes. Drive by and you will see the amazing progress and a notably different silhouette. Our small farm-house Rescue will almost triple in space to 7500 square feet!

Expanding the Love Campaign Update - To date, we have raised nearly $600,000 but we still need your help to finish the building by raising an additional $400,000. Exciting sponsorship opportunities ranging from $500 to $50,000 are available and can be found on our website. Please consider helping the Rescues in our community by donating towards our expansion. We are so grateful for any and all support. You are making a difference in their lives!

Extending a VERY heartfelt thank-you for the generous support of the Ehlert Family Foundation as well as that of the Johnson Family. We are also extremely grateful to the Scornavacco Family, Style by Carden Exteriors, Allied Building Products and Owens Corning for your generous donations of roofing labor and materials. We also appreciate the kind help of our Rescue supporters who have donated or bought bricks. Bricks are still available for anyone interested in commemorating the new facility with a personal message or corporate logo.
