Hi Piper! 🪈

Piper joined the herd at SS Equestrian Center in 2023. She is a mustang mare that is originally from Nevada!

Like most mustangs, Piper is small and hardy! She leans on the lazy side and will try to be boss mare, so she requires a skillful hand, but she versatile and fun to ride!

When I acquired Piper, I did not change her name because it reminded me of two things: Praising God, and a prominent theologian, John Piper.

John Piper is best known for encouraging people to be completely satisfied in God, because God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him.

When I think of the term piper in a musical sense, it reminds me of Psalm 33:3 “Sing to him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy!”

May our complete satisfaction in God cause us to praise Him with everything we do!

This handsome guy with the luscious locks is Nugget, formerly known as Woody! He is a 24 year old halflinger gelding.

When he joined my herd in 2022, I felt that he needed a name that was as adorable as him! He is a golden nugget! 💛

The phrase golden nugget refers to something small but extremely valuable or useful. How fitting! I had typically used the phrase when studying the Bible and finding “golden nuggets” within the scriptures.

Nugget is missing teeth so he requires a special diet of senior feed and soaked forage. He’s otherwise very healthy & hardy and loves to GO, especially on trail rides!

Here’s a golden nugget from scripture!

Over the next couple of weeks, I will be sharing a bit about the horses here and the names they have been given!

In the Bible, we see how important names are to God. Names carry meaning, and that meaning is spoken over someone throughout their whole life!

I love how God often gives someone a new name when they surrender their life over for His purposes.
Abram ➡️Abraham
Jacob➡️Israel
Simon➡️Peter
Saul➡️Paul

For today, I’d like to share about Titus. Titus is wonderful with timid beginners because he is so gentle and a bit lazy!

Titus’s name was previously Ho**er. He spent his younger years as a show horse. When Titus was acquired by SS equestrian center, his new purpose was to teach students so I wanted to give him a name that would reflect that. In the Bible, the book of Titus is full of instructions, and it’s quite easy to read with only 3 chapters!

The name Titus symbolizes honor, faithfulness & leadership. This name fits him well. He has been such a gem and was a staple in our lesson program. He is now enjoying semi- retirement at the age of 28!
