They then receive any needed veterinary care, including: spay/neuter, dental cleaning, vaccinations, heartworm preventative, and treatment for any intestinal parasites. The dogs are then placed in foster homes so that they can learn “house rules” as many have never been in a home before, and may have never seen stairs, have had a dog bed of their own, or played with toys. 🐾 Meet Rhett 🐾
Lazy by nature, sweet by heart. After nearly 7 years, Rhett is finally learning what it means to relax in a home. He loves his kennel, enjoys his walks and is slowly discovering toys and social time. He adores people and is looking for a patient, loving home to help him build confidence and enjoy his new life 💚
If you’re looking for a bright new way to start 2026 with a sense of purpose & unconditional love, fostering a Kansas City REGAP hound will provide all that & more. 💚🐾 🏠
6 pups (some of whom are pictured here) are waiting to come to Kansas City if we can find enough foster homes. They range in age between 2 and 6 years old.
As a home-based rescue group, foster homes are an essential lifeline. We can’t do it without you! 💚🐾
DM us or email [email protected]. We’re happy to answer any questions you have about fostering & these pups — so deserving of a new chance in life!

This year, so many of our greyhounds are celebrating their very first Christmas in loving homes. From cozy couches to full hearts, these pups have truly found where they belong.
To their adopters: thank you for opening your homes and choosing adoption. It brings us so much joy to see new faces become part of the KC REGAP family. And also to see familiar faces who decided one greyhound just isn’t enough! These greyhounds are the greatest gift and we are so grateful for every happy ending 🐾💚
A big thank you also to our entire KC REGAP community of fosters, volunteers, donors, and supporters. This wouldn’t be possible without every one of you. Merry Christmas and happy howlidays!

We’re so happy to announce the adoption of Snowball (formerly Lisbon) to Bartek, Lauren & their sons, Albie and Franklin.
Albie (older son in glasses) wanted a greyhound for 2 years & finally convinced Mom and Dad he is ready to take on part of the responsibility of a dog. 🥰
Snowball absolutely loved the activity level of their home & soaked up all the affection the boys could give her❣️
Happy pawlidays to Snowball ❄️ & her adoring family!! We wish you many happy years together. 💚🐾

All Archie wants for Christmas…is you. This handsome, almost-3-year-old boy is gentle, affectionate, and kid-friendly, with a calm presence and the sweetest soul. Archie is doing great in his foster home—mastering stairs, walking nicely on leash, accident-free in the house and discovering the joy of toys (and some zoomies!). He loves ear scratches, quiet cuddle time and will even give little kisses if you let him. Archie is ready to head home for the holidays. 🐾💚

Kansas City Retired Greyhounds as Pets (KCREGAP) is a volunteer-run, 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to finding loving homes for retired greyhounds. Since the organization began in 1990, more than 5000 greyhounds have found their forever homes in the Kansas City Metro area.
Though there are no longer greyhound racing tracks in Kansas, the National Greyhound Association remains headquartered in Abilene, KS, along with numerous greyhound breeding farms. Of these greyhounds, some never make it to the track, return to these farms after racing, or are used for breeding, and the lucky ones are then released to adoption groups to find their forever homes.
These dogs may be anywhere from under 1 year old to 8 or 9 years old when they come to our group. These special foster families help to make the dogs’ transition to their forever home a success.
Since we do not have a shelter, interested families can meet greyhounds at our Meet & Greet events. Call or email us to find out more about our adoption process or to request to meet a specific greyhound.
