“We’ve been doing ‘happy visits’ to the vet clinic to get used to going in, getting weighed & taking treats from strangers. He's doing incredible. Last time, he laid down in the lobby. Such a good boy!”
He rides in the car better than any dog she’s ever fostered or owned, said Julie, who has owned several dogs & fostered more than 100 dogs over the years.
“He could travel all over with people,” she said. “He’s a dream on a leash, too.”

Due to weather delays, the trip back to KC from Chicago took longer than expected and the Macau greyhounds did not make it back to KC in time to go directly to the vet. Since they must be spay/neutered before going to foster homes, REGAP volunteers acted quickly to come up with Plan B. They are spending the weekend in a volunteer's heated garage...getting lots of love and keeping safe and warm. We are even starting to see some tail wags! Thank you to the Chicago crew of volunteers that made this all possible. Monday all five head off for their vet care and then to their foster homes to recover and get ready to find their forever families! Save The Macau Greyhounds GREY2K USA

Finn, Emma, Blink, and Amelia made the long journey from China to Kansas City, Missouri. They are at our kennel, awaiting a spa day with our volunteers and a trip to our vet. Then they will each make their way to their new foster homes and learn about life in a home with a family. Thank you to Save The Macau Greyhounds and GREY2K USA for your work that allowed KCREGAP to bring these dogs to KC and to find forever homes.

This is Sherlock with our board president, Robyn. Sherlock comes to us at just 4 weeks old. He has a severe injury to one leg. He'll soon be starting his vet care...we don't know yet what his treatment will be. As he grows and heals he will be fostered by one of our most experienced foster families. We will keep you posted on his progress. We are so grateful to all of the volunteers and donors that make our work possible. Our Story

Kansas City Retired Greyhounds as Pets (KCREGAP) is a volunteer-run, 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to finding loving homes for retired greyhounds. Since the organization began in 1990, more than 5000 greyhounds have found their forever homes in the Kansas City Metro area.

Though there are no longer greyhound racing tracks in Kansas, the National Greyhound Association remains headquartered in Abilene, KS, along with numerous greyhound breeding farms. Of these greyhounds, some never make it to the track, return to these farms after racing, or are used for breeding, and the lucky ones are then released to adoption groups to find their forever homes.

These dogs may be anywhere from under 1 year old to 8 or 9 years old when they come to our group. They then receive any needed veterinary care, including: spay/neuter, dental cleaning, vaccinations, heartworm preventative, and treatment for any intestinal parasites. The dogs are then placed in foster homes so that they can learn “house rules” as many have never been in a home before, and may have never seen stairs, have had a dog bed of their own, or played with toys. These special foster families help to make the dogs’ transition to their forever home a success.

What is a good dry food? Looking for recommendations. Been using Eukanuba chicken for 5 years, now I seem to have to bribe them to eat it!
