Since the organization began in 1990, more than 6,000 greyhounds/sighthounds have found their forever homes within our adoption radius.

Kansas City Retired Greyhounds as Pets (KCREGAP) is a 501(c)3 not for profit charitable organization that finds forever, loving homes for retired greyhound racing dogs, lurchers and other sighthounds. These dogs may be anywhere from und

er 1 year old to 8 or 9 years old when they come to our group, and come from different backgrounds. They then receive any needed veterinary care, including: spay/neuter, dental cleaning, vaccinations, heartworm preventative, and treatment for any intestinal parasites. The dogs are then placed in foster homes so that they can learn “house rules” as many have never been in a home before, and may have never seen stairs, have had a dog bed of their own, or played with toys. These special foster families help to make the dogs’ transition to their forever home a success

Dispatch from the cats, Poppy & Jinx, 5/23/26: 🐾📰🐾
It's complete houndemonium & we're officially outnumbered. The hoomans, Jarrett & Lacey, have allowed another leggy run-run into our humble abode. We are making the best of the situation, but as you can see, the new one likes to lick hats? 🤷‍♀️🧐

Oh, the hoomanity!

His name was Henley, but we're calling him Bodie. He's probably going to form an alliance with the other two high speed, low drag couch potatoes, Evie & Zero. And now that means one more noodle horse to take up precious couch space & lie in our favorite sunny spots.
Send help (or maybe another cat)!!! 🚨😼

She also has a 4-legged sister, Anna, to gaze out the window & enjoy the backyard with. 🏡

I’m 6 years old, very social & befriend everyone I meet. I also love affection & exploring.

I listen well, sleep through the night & looove to play with toys.

A gentle 6-year-old girl with soft white fur and beautiful apricot markings, Joy is shy, sweet and quietly affectionate once she feels safe.

She loves cozy beds, calm moments and the comfort of a warm blanket, and she does best with patient, kind humans who let her take things at her own pace.

Theo has found his furever home!!

Theo’s story is one of resilience, healing and hope. When he came to REGAP he was in rough shape, 20 pounds underweight, weak, anemic and heartworm positive. But with time, patience and dedicated foster care, Theo began to heal and rediscover his spark.

And now…he’s officially HOME! 💚

Theo was adopted by Leona and Robert, joining their family alongside their 6-month-old Irish Wolfhound, Cú and two kitty siblings. From the moment they met, Theo was thrilled to have a playful new friend and it’s clear he’s stepped right into a life filled with companionship and love.

Theo’s journey is a powerful reminder that fostering truly saves lives. Without fosters stepping up to heal, nurture and believe in dogs like him, happy endings like this simply wouldn’t be possible.

We’re so grateful to his foster family for helping him get to this point and to his adopters for giving him the joyful future he always deserved.
