Off you go, little Tang! (New name TBD). Tang will be pursuing obedience, scent work, and dock diving with her new family, in addition to being a great everyday walking/hiking partner. We are so excited for her new owners the Zukoff family. We know she will love being a totally spoiled queen bee! Now we have an extra excuse to come to the Cities for dog events 😁🥰

Puppy number two is about to be airborne! ✈️
Mantis (new name TBD) leaves for her new adventure with Denise Arthurs, where she will have two other cattle dogs to befriend at home in South Carolina. Her future interests include conformation, scent work, and agility, with the potential for more sports mixed in. We are so excited to see all that this team achieves together! So hard to see her go, but we know she is in very capable hands. ❤️

The first puppy has flown the nest! Big congratulations to the Coenen family. “Poppy” 🌺 (previously Wren) is going to have a super enriching and spoiled life, pursuing agility and active companionship. We’re so thankful to have this local puppy family so we can get together to train and watch her grow. ❤️

🐾 Every breeder knows this moment, that little buzz on your phone a few days after a puppy goes home.

The message starts sweet, “we love him, but…”

And you already know what’s coming next. But he barks. But he nips. But he cries at night. But he’s just “a lot.”

And it breaks your heart a little every time, because what they’re describing isn’t a “problem.”

It’s a puppy.

A baby learning the world outside of their mom and littermates. They’re confused, overstimulated, excited, and scared…sometimes all at once. And that’s normal.

But people today want easy.

People want the version they see online…the one that sits calmly, never chews a shoe, and somehow knows “sit” by eight weeks.

They forget that behind every well-mannered dog is someone who put in the work, the patience, the boundaries, the grace.

People want the love without the learning curve.

Even the most beautifully raised puppies don’t come pre-programmed. They come ready to grow with you. To learn your rhythms, your tone, your energy. They don’t need perfection, they need patience.

Some people confuse an easy puppy with a good one. But the truth is, every puppy is good they’re just new. And new things are messy before they’re magical.

As breeders, we see it all. We comfort the ones who come back scared, unsure, wondering what they did wrong. We remind them softly, “you didn’t do anything wrong, baby.” Because it’s never their fault that someone wasn’t ready for the hard parts that make the best parts possible.

Raising a puppy isn’t instant. It’s sleepless nights, puddles on the floor, little teeth on fingers, and the sweetest bond you’ll ever build.

A puppy isn’t a project, or a phase, or something to “try.” It’s a commitment. A piece of your heart on four legs. If you’re not ready for the messy parts of puppyhood, that’s okay. Just wait until you can give your whole heart.

Because these little souls deserve nothing less 💜 🐾

The pups have had a busy week with a vet appointment, romp/rough and tumble time, photography session, crate training and shenanigans with mom.

This will be the last puppy cuddle puddle where all the Wild Things are together 🥹🥰. The first of this litter is going home tonight and I couldn’t be more excited for her to start her journey with her new family.

This has been an amazing journey, and while we still have our 3 red boys searching for their perfect 🏠 - the girls are spreading their wings and off to new adventures 🗺️.

👀 🏠
We’ve had some people back out of our wait list and, due to no fault of their own, these three boys are searching for their perfect families.

Quick facts about the boys:
Gator: wants a career in any sports arena where he gets to run fast. Good toy and food drive, handler sensitive/nice biddability, not a dog that you have to micromanage or be a hard handler. Bonds tightly to one or two people and thinks strangers are boring unless they engage in play. Has a good mind and may also enjoy scent work or other brainy sports. “Manageable” for a cattle dog, decent off switch when properly exercised and stimulated (but prior to that- he’s a wild child!).

Badger: wants to play tug and watch the world burn. Great environmental confidence. Will play with or work for anyone that has toys or food, stranger or otherwise. Malinois-level tenacity and drive in a cattle dog body, needs a confident handler with firm black-and-white boundaries. Slated to be a larger dog (50ish lbs kept lean). In a perfect world, Badger would love a home that plays flyball, agility, disc, fast cat, or wants to dabble in bite sports with an off breed. Of course he may also enjoy dock or barnhunt, etc. This one’s off switch will need a little more development and maturity. We think he has a lot of merit conformationally and would love to see him shown, or go to a home where we can loosely keep him within our program.

Gibbon: the easiest to live with and most sweet/submissive of the boys. Natural off switch that should be easy to develop more with training. Very thoughtful, would excel at brainy sports, but also has great toy and food drive, and lives to run and wrestle as much as any cattle dog. Very outgoing, loves people and will happily work for a stranger if the vibe is right. Will give anything his honest effort.

None of these pups want to be a boring couch potato dog. All of them have aspirations for sports or active lifestyles, and need the right kind of handler. We know their perfect homes are out there. Please share, interested parties may reach out to us via messenger or email [email protected] .

Oh and of course all pups are microchipped, UTD on vaccines, Baer hearing tested (full hearing) and Volhard temperament tested (results available to share with interested parties). Raised with Puppy Culture from CHIC tested parents. Thank you!

Long awaited stack and portrait shots of the Monkey x Denim kids! They turn 8wks old tomorrow and the first few of them will be going to their new homes this weekend. We have a busy week planned, vet visit for vaccines and microchips, chiropractic adjustment, and travel to a flyball tournament Sunday which will be great exposure for some of the pups who aren’t leaving immediately. Our time with them has gone by so fast, but we have loved every minute. To say we are proud of them would be an understatement. Thanks again to Ellen Schwab for lending us an excellent stud dog who complimented our girl so well. Monkey and Denim did good! 😊

One final, long road trip with the Wild Things had us visiting our friends in Iowa this weekend for a puppy sports/recall day!

At 7.5 weeks old, these pups came out swinging! They loved interacting with new people in a new place with new/loud sounds! Puppy brains did win out some times, but they enjoyed every playful, energetic minute with Mission Uproar’s flyball team participants.

As we head into these final days of the pups being with us; we are doing structural evals, first vet appointment, and heading to their new families this weekend. We have loved and cherished all of our supporters taking the time to bolster these rambunctious, drivey pups. We love all of you and hope you have enjoyed watching their journey start with us.
