Hot weather = a reminder to watch out for blue-green algae!

With the heat we've been having, ponds and lakes can become a potential danger for our dogs. Blue-green algae (cyanobacteria) can grow rapidly in warm, stagnant water and can be extremely toxic—even in small amounts.

Keep your dog away from water that:
• Looks like green paint, pea soup, or spilled algae
• Has a thick scum or floating mats on the surface
• Looks unusually cloudy or discolored
• Has a strong, unpleasant odor

And remember—you can't always tell if a body of water is dangerous just by looking at it. After your dog swims you should always rinse them off with clean water.

Look for signs of toxicity if you think the water was questionable. Toxicity can develop quickly and may include vomiting, diarrhea, weakness, tremors, difficulty breathing, seizures, or collapse.

When it's hot, stick to clean, safe water sources and bring plenty of fresh drinking water along for your adventures.

A little caution can help keep summer fun Fear Free and worry free!

A big thank you to Scraggly Chestnut’s owner for this wonderful update!

“Thank you all so much for helping Scraggly! He’s like a brand-new cat since his dental procedure. He even lets us brush him now! He’s eating perfectly and always cleans his bowl. It is wonderful to see him playing again and showing off his true personality. We truly cannot thank you enough for giving us our happy boy back, and we are so grateful for your incredible kindness, compassion, and dedication to animals (including humans).
I hope you have an amazing day. We look forward to our next visit!
Erin, Chris and Scraggly”

We know… talking about p**p isn’t exactly glamorous. But your pet’s p**p can tell us a LOT about their health!

Routine f***l testing is an important part of your pet’s wellness care because intestinal parasites don’t always cause obvious symptoms. Your pet can look perfectly healthy while still carrying a parasite.

A simple f***l test can help us:
🐾 Detect parasites early
🐾 Protect your pet from potential health problems
🐾 Catch issues before they become bigger problems
🐾 Help protect the people and other pets in your home

And even pets who are on regular parasite prevention can benefit from routine screening. Prevention is incredibly important, but no product is 100% effective.

The best part? F***l testing is a simple, non-invasive way to gather important information about your pet’s health—without adding unnecessary stress to their visit. That fits right in with our Fear Free approach: finding ways to provide excellent care while keeping the experience as comfortable and low-stress as possible.

So the next time we ask you to bring in a fresh stool sample, remember—it may not be the most glamorous part of pet parenting, but it’s a small step that can make a big difference.

Small sample. Big impact. Less stress. Healthier pets.
