Happy Trails Animal Rescue is a 501c3 Non Profit Animal Rescue servicing dogs in need in Central Florida - we currently service Osceola, Orange and Seminole Counties. We are a foster based rescue network - meaning our dogs are located in foster homes throughout Central Florida and not at a shelter facility. All adoptions, surrenders and other services must be done by appointment only - the best wa

y to reach us is via email at [email protected] or by calling 407-270-7074. Our primary focus is rehabilitating dogs in public animal control shelters that are struggling with behavioral and medical concerns due to cruelty and neglect - we specialize in behavioral rehabilitation. We are limited on the number of animals we have availability to house and animals in danger of euthanasia in public shelters take first priority - we try to offer as much assistance to pet owners in the community as possible, including assistance with training, veterinary services, and networking dogs in need of new homes. We are here to help! We are excited to have opened a first of its kind resource center for pet owners in Central Florida! At this location we offer a pet pantry with food, treats, toys, prevention and other supplies for pet owners going through financial challenges. We also offer free and low cost dog training programs, free grooming clinics, free educational classes and seminars, a service dog program, assistance with funding for veterinary emergencies, and more! For more information please visit our website. We are proud to service the Central Florida area and hope to be a part of big things in your community. Thank you for supporting rescue!

🗣Casper update!!!

Caspers quarantine time has passed and he got to hang out at the office today so we could get to know him better. 🥰

His tests were all negative! 🎉 No heartworms. No f***l parasites. No tickborne illnesses. He does have an eye infection/issue going on that multiple rounds of antibiotics and injections has not solved, so he will likely be referred to a specialist for further testing for his eyes.

What we know so far:
He's shy but sweet and eager to please. He listens to corrections very well. He will do ANYTHING for food. He already knows many commands like sit, speak and shake paws (someone, somewhere, must have loved him and taught him - before his fate landed him in the woods 🥺). He appears to be completely housebroken, he hasn't had any accidents at all visiting the office today. Despite playing hard to get in the woods, he is very needy and hates to be left alone. He isn't horrible with other dogs, but he needs some work.

We would LOVE to find a foster family to transition him into so he doesn't have to spend the holidays in the kennel at the vet. 🙏🙏🙏 He would need a foster with no other dogs (or someone very experienced with separating and intros hat can separate him and work with us on slow intros, he does have potential!). He would also do best in a home with no small/rowdy children as he is still a little spooky sometimes. East Orlando or Seminole County area preferred so he can easily go to his vet and training appointments in the area.

If you're possibly able to foster Casper, please reach out! 🙏 Please share our boy - let's find him a foster for the holidays.

🚨UPDATE: THE GREY GHOST OF SPLIT OAK (now known as Casper🚨 DONATIONS STILL URGENTLY NEEDED!

This sweet, terrified boy has been living in a local wilderness area for at least a month (confirmed sightings as early as November 6th). He was too fearful of people to be caught and an amazing team of volunteers hatched a plan to trap him.

They repeatedly went out to reset and stock the trap with food and water. Monitored the trail cams watching the trap day and night. Saw all kinds of threats to the trapping process including FWC and wild coyotes. Watched exhausting near misses as he went near or into trap but didn't get caught.

But today, the grey ghost finally went into the trap. He went immediately to our veterinarian and is currently quarantined there. At a MINIMUM the month in the woods has him covered in huge, fully engorged ticks, with open animal bite wounds that are bleeding and badly swollen, infected eyes. He has to be tested for tickborne illnesses, sedated to remove ticks and do wound cleaning on the animal bites and he will need vaccines, neuter - and the quarantine boarding costs.

We had no plans of taking a dog right now as donations have been at an all time low during this economy. We are desperately in need of any and all donations to help with his extensive needs. 🙏🙏🙏

Please, please donate and share Casper.

🚨DONATIONS URGENTLY NEEDED🚨

Meet Casper - formerly known as the grey ghost of Split Oak. This sweet boy was spotted running loose in a wilderness area. He was very fearful of people and a village of amazing people stepped up to facilitate trapping him. After a long, unsuccessful night of near misses - he went into the trap this afternoon and is finally safe and headed directly to our vet.

This boy has open wounds, infected eyes and who knows what else from his time surviving the wild alone. We aren't really in a position financially to take him on but couldn't say no and leave him out there alone. Please if you're able to spare any money it is so, so appreciated. 🙏

Happy Thanksgiving from a face only a mother could love. 😅

Who remembers Muffin, the little grumpy dog that was abandoned matted and terrified in a crate in front of our building over the summer?

Shortly after I brought him home, I texted my Mother and said "this dog is exactly your kind of weird". She offered to foster - and the rest is history! 🤣🥰

Muffin will be spending Thanksgiving with a family (possibly for his first time ever) - and working hard on his social skills. 🤪 Welcome to the family, little weirdo. 🥰

Our service dogs in training. 🥹✨️🥰

We are so grateful to the Central Florida Foundation for the grant funding to make this program possible.

While all of these amazing dogs came from shelters and rescues, we are especially excited that two of them were adopted from us! Josey and Bandit are both Happy Trails alumni and working hard to become special helpers for their amazing humans.
