uthanasia rates in Oklahoma public shelters. We also have a senior and special needs sanctuary for dogs who need a safe space for end of life care and aren't necessarily stable enough to go on a transport.

Happy National Dog Dad Day to the men who said “I don’t want another dog” but are now spoon-feeding chicken and sleeping in one square inch of the bed because the dog “looks comfortable.” 😂

Dog dads doing the late night potty breaks, carrying 70 pound babies who suddenly “can’t walk,” passing out ridiculous amounts of treats, and pretending they don’t want the dog on the couch while actively making room for them.

They become protectors, best friends, walking buddies, snack dispensers, emotional support humans, and professional ball throwers all at once.

Some of the strongest bonds we see are between rescue dogs and the men who swore they didn’t even like dogs that much.

Then suddenly:
“Can you send me more pictures of him?”
“Do you think she misses me while I’m at work?”
“He likes his blanket warmed up first.”

Yeah. We know 😌

To all the amazing dog dads out there, thank you for loving them so deeply. The dogs notice. So do we ❤️🐾

Drop a picture of your favorite dog dad below!

It is with broken hearts that we share that Vesper has crossed the Rainbow Bridge 🌈🪽

Over the past 24 hours, Vesper fought incredibly hard. Despite the efforts of her foster, our rescue team, and the emergency veterinary staff, she was unable to regulate her body temperature or blood sugar levels, and her condition continued to be unstable. After extensive medical intervention and consultation with the veterinary team, it became clear that she was not thriving and that her prognosis was extremely poor.

The difficult, but loving decision, was made to provide Vesper with a peaceful and humane goodbye, ensuring that she would no longer suffer.

Rescue is filled with beautiful success stories, but it also comes with heartbreaking losses. Vesper was loved from the moment she entered our care. Although her time with us was far too short, she knew warmth, safety, a full belly, gentle hands, and people who fought for her until the very end.

We want to extend our deepest gratitude to her foster, who recognized immediately that something was wrong and did everything possible to get her the help she needed. We are also grateful to the emergency veterinary team who worked tirelessly to try to save her.

Please keep Vesper’s foster and everyone who loved her in your thoughts. Today our hearts are heavy, but we take comfort in knowing that her suffering has ended and that she left this world surrounded by love.

Run free, sweet Vesper. You mattered. You were loved. And you will never be forgotten. 🌈🐾❤️

✨ Meet Sapphire 💙🐾

Looking for someone to keep a close eye on things? Sapphire takes her hall monitor duties very seriously. She always knows what’s going on and likes to supervise the daily activities around her.

When she’s off the clock, you’ll usually find her relaxing in a comfy chair, claiming a box as her personal office, or stretched out in the dog bed like she pays the bills. And if you want her attention, there’s one guaranteed way to get it—the crinkle of a snack bag. She absolutely loves treats and comes running when she hears one open! She also loves dangling toys and is always ready for a little playtime.

Sapphire isn’t much of a cuddler, but she’s happy to let you know when it’s time for pets… and when it’s time to stop. She enjoys being close to her people and will often lounge beside you, nearby, or even climb into your lap when she’s feeling especially affectionate.

If you’re looking for a funny, independent, snack-loving companion with plenty of personality, Sapphire is ready to report for duty in her forever home.

“I could never foster. I’d get too attached.”

You’re right.... You do get attached.

And Rosie and her foster family were proof of that.

She came into rescue needing a safe place because her living situation had become dangerous.
It didn’t take long for her to wiggle her way into the "special place" within her foster mom's heart.
She's the kind of girl that made her foster family start imagining what it would be like if she stayed forever...

BUT... fostering is about loving them enough to do what’s best for them, even when it’s hard.

When a family in Montana saw Rosie’s story, they knew she was the dog they had been waiting for. They made the trip to bring her home, and today she’s living a life full of love, adventure, and opportunities her foster family knew they couldn’t have given her while juggling a house full of personal pets AND fosters.

That's a piece of the picture that the public doesn't get the chance to see.

Her foster mom said;
"For every foster we decide to keep, that’s one less space available for the next dog who needs help. As much as my heart wanted her to stay forever, I knew we were just a chapter of her journey."

Rosie got her happy ending because someone fostered her.... and now that she’s in her forever home, that foster space can be open for the next dog whose life may depend on it.

So yes, fostering is hard.
Yes, you fall in love.
Yes, sometimes you cry.

But the goal was never to keep them all.

The goal is to help them find where they belong, even if it's not with you.

Happy Tail, Rosie. ❤️🐾
Thank you for reminding us all that the hardest part of fostering is often the most rewarding part, too. ❤️🐾

⚠️ Viewer Discretion Advised ⚠️

The short video attached may be difficult to watch. It shows Vesper yesterday as she was rapidly declining and preparing to head to the emergency vet. We are sharing it to help everyone understand just how serious her condition became.

🚨 UPDATE ON VESPER

Her body temperature remains unstable and has not risen above 96°F, and her blood sugar levels continue to fluctuate. The emergency veterinary team is doing everything they can to diagnose and treat her, but we are very concerned about the possibility of fading kitten syndrome, especially since her appetite continues to come and go. Her fecals show as normal so no parasites or parvo!

Please continue to keep Vesper and her foster in your thoughts as they navigate this incredibly stressful situation. We are hoping for answers and praying for a turnaround.

We also need help. Our low-end estimate at the ER is already around $2,000, and so far we have not received even $1 toward her care. If you can skip a coffee, brunch, or another small treat this weekend and put those dollars toward helping Vesper instead, it would mean more than we can express.

🆘 EMERGENCY 🆘

Our sweet foster girl Vesper is on her way to the emergency vet right now.

She has declined very rapidly! She has stopped eating and drinking, is extremely lethargic, and can no longer stand. We do not yet know what is going on, but she needs immediate diagnostics and emergency care to try to stabilize her and figure out what’s happening.

Please keep her in your thoughts and send all the good energy you can her way as she heads into the ER.

If anyone is able to help with her emergency medical care today, donations will go directly toward diagnostics and life-saving treatment!

One loose dog.
One open gate.
One loud noise.
One moment.

That’s all it takes.

Every year, thousands of lost pets end up in shelters with no identification at all. No tags. No chip. No way to contact the people desperately looking for them.

Microchips reunite families every single day. They are tiny, safe, affordable, and permanent. Collars fall off. Tags break. Chips stay.

And before anybody says “my pet never gets out” — almost every lost pet owner thought the exact same thing.

Fireworks.
Storms.
Delivery drivers.
Kids leaving doors open.
Fence damage.
Car accidents.

Life happens fast.

A microchip only works if the registration is updated, too. If you’ve moved, changed phone numbers, or adopted a pet from someone else, take five minutes this month to make sure your information is current.

Please microchip your pets.
Please register the chip.
Please keep the information updated.

That one tiny chip can be the reason your pet makes it back home.
