Yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting Barnacle aka Barney. This kiddo is tiny. Maybe 40 lbs? Around 3 years old. He has a limp and evidence of past injury without proper healing. Somehow, he still loves people and dogs. The current problem is that he loves them a bit too much but we are working on it.
Cheese is Barneys love language and he got plenty of it during our session. He really needs a home where no other dogs are present, so he can have a chance to learn to live in a house again and not get so excited around people. He just can’t seem to settle when there’s another dog present. We believe this transition is just temporary and Barnacle will be able to live in a home with other dogs again.
We have not witnessed any aggression whatsoever. It’s quite the opposite. It is the over expression of love if you can believe that! Barney has some big, happy feelings and just can’t quite regulate himself yet. He will get there!

Meet Nico! Nico is a 5 year old rescue who has been with his mom for a few months now. He has been showing some clear signs of resource guarding and being uncomfortable around some men. When Nico’s mom started her search to find some help, she was quoted some exorbitant prices from trainers in the area who wanted to take Nico for the day, over a period of several weeks and guarantee they would “stop” the behavior. They were transparent they would use a shock color and that’s when Nico‘s mom pumped the brakes. Don’t ever think a big price tag means better service. We charge a fraction of what some others charge and we work directly with you, using only force free methods. It’s not always about training your dog. It’s about coaching the humans to change the environment so we can help change the dogs association and behavior. During our first three sessions, we will put a plan in place to help better manage the environment and help Nico start to enjoy all kinds of people in his home safely. All good things to look forward to for Nico and family!

Mylo update! “Place” is becoming the preferred location over jumping on people at the door. Mylos mom reported he never lays on his bed for more than five minutes and he’s been laying on it for the past 30 minutes. Place = TREAT EXPLOSION!
