DELMARVA CAT CONNECTION Celebrating 25 Years!!
A handful of volunteers who were already experienced in cat rescue work had a vision. Their vision was to bring homeless cats and kittens into a home environment as temporary shelter where they could be cared for, socialized, and later adopted into loving family homes. On June 28, 2001, Delmarva Cat Connection, Inc., was founded on that principle. These volunteers, along with others who joined shortly thereafter, opened their homes to stray and abandoned cats and kittens to get them off the streets.
Delmarva Cat Connection, Inc. is an all-volunteer 501(c)3 corporation dedicated to the fostering and adoption of stray cats from the Delmarva Peninsula. We find it beneficial for the cats to get the care and nurturing they deserve in a loving environment surrounded by people, children and other pets. This helps to make a smoother transition when adjusting to their permanent homes. Our cats and kittens are available daily to meet potential adoptive families in the adoption center at PetSmart in Salisbury, Maryland.
In recent years, we have been averaging nearly 200 adoptions per year into loving homes. We take in as many homeless cats and kittens as our resources allow, trying not to turn any away, but our telephone line rings endlessly with calls requesting help. Our veterinary expenses including testing, sterilization, vaccines, and medications, as well as our on-going foster care expenses have skyrocketed, placing a strain on our budget.
Your support is critical to our ongoing efforts. We are pleading for your help to allow us to continue this much needed effort. We do not receive any state or federal funding but operate solely on our fund-raising efforts, donations from concerned people who believe in what we do and the occasional small grant. Your donations are tax deductible, and all donations go directly towards the welfare of our feline friends. We appreciate any support you can give us in our endeavor to reduce the homeless cat population. We are always looking for volunteers to help foster cats, maintain the cleanliness of our adoption center at PetSmart, and staff our awareness and fundraising events. If we all do a little, we can get much accomplished.

We are getting ready for our next event. The Spring Craft Bazaar on Saturday, May 2. The event is being held at the Snow Hill 50Plus Center from 9am-2pm, located at 4767 Snow Hill Rd, Snow Hill, MD. We will have a beautiful selection of jewelry on hand, perfect for gift giving. We also have cat approved kickers and toys as well as other craft items such as fabric totes, reusable gift bags and kitchen towels. More items are being made weekly by our talented volunteers.

Easter is almost here! So once again some of our volunteers have been busy crafting items to get ready for the Premier Home & Artisan Expo at the Ocean City Convention Center on April 3 & 4, from 10 am to 4 pm. The proceeds from the sale of all items donated to us and made specifically for us help cover the cost of caring for our kitties. Please stop by our booth to do a little Easter or early Mother's Day shopping. Admission fee is required for the event.

According to our records, the estimated date of birth for Briar was March 17, 2025. Wouldn't you love to make her St. Patrick's day birthday extra lucky? This sweet girl may seem timid at first but don't be fooled. She is actually a loving and playful kitty who loves to beg pets from you all night long. She is currently at the Salisbury PetSmart waiting for some luck to come her way.

Please join us at the Salisbury PetSmart for National Adoption Week, March 23-29. We need your help. We still have many cats and older kittens available for adoption in our system. Meet Calypso! This gorgeous, ultra-soft girl is as sweet as they come and absolutely adores people. Sadly, she’s been returned twice—through no fault of her own. Her original adoption lasted four years, until her owner's serious health issues required her to be surrendered. Calypso just wants a loving home where she can be your one and only furry friend, as she prefers people over other cats. If you’re looking for a loyal companion and have a kitty-free home, (or at least plenty of room for her to find her own space) Calypso is waiting to meet you! 🐾💗 Please share to help her find the forever family she deserves.

Due to the upcoming winter storm and possible store closure, we will be temporarily removing our kitties from the adoption center at the Salisbury PetSmart this afternoon. This will save our volunteers from trekking out in poor travel conditions. Stay safe and use your snow days to check out all of our available kitties that are listed on our website. You can also fill out a pre-adoption application online.
