Introducing Pisaflores' AGÜITA DE COCO (aka Chiringa, La Chilindrina, "la sin nombre")

This beautiful 5-month-old palomino filly is by Sueño de Paz out of our best mare, Cabriola (Linaje x Orgullo de Réplica). Like her dam, she has an extra delicate, extra collected, extra quick Classic Fino gait. I know I'm biased, but to me she's absolutely magnificent—truly one of a kind!

Gait, conformation, and temperament are the three main characteristics of the Pure Puerto Rican Paso Fino. If you have two of them, you have a good horse ... but greatness is achieved when a horse has all three.

Almost all breeders aim for a great gait when they design a cross. Some also seek a beautiful conformation. But a noble temperament is usually at the bottom of the sack when most breeders plan a breeding. On the island, it is a consequence of having the horse professionally trained. But on the mainland, where most owners train and ride their own horses, this is a priority.

At Hacienda Pisaflores, we want our horses to have the brío needed to excel in the Classic Fino class. But it must come with nobility, calmness, and desire to please. That is what these three photos are about: a young mare, 3 years old, with a few months of saddle training; and a 17-month-old filly with just basic handling—both at liberty in a paddock, coming willingly and happily to greet my wife, who is carrying a puppy and holding an open umbrella. That is the hallmark of a sound temperament.

Girls’ day out! Not sure who enjoyed it more—them playing or us watching and admiring them.

Pisaflores' TOÑITA (Fuego Rapido de Pride x Pascua de Villa Burgos) -- Bred, born, and raised on the mainland. This young mare is one of our favorites and a future pillar of our breeding program. She's following the hoofprints of the original Toñita, and we expect wonderful things from her, both in the show ring and as a broodmare.

LA BRUJA DEL CARIBE (Astro II x Tormenta del Caribe) -- One of our most important breeding mares, she's the dam of Pegasus, our palomino Fino young horse. She's being prepared to breed to Pisaflores' Don Toquí for a late-2026 foal.

BELINDA DE RÉPLICA (Réplica de Majestuoso x La Manantial) -- Full sister to Orgullo de Réplica (our beloved foundation mare who passed away four years ago). Belinda is the dam of Telégrafo, one of our promising young horses for 2026. She's currently in foal to Doble Réplica del Caribe, a nephew/aunt cross from where we expect great things.

Pisaflores' VERDE LUZ (Astro III x Cosita Linda de la Loma) -- Her dam, sired by Armani del Sol, was the first of Orgullo's daughters we bred (now owned by José Carlos Roig). At 17 months old, Verde Luz is the tallest of Astro III's offspring and the most beautiful of all.

Pisaflores’ TOÑITA (Fuego Rapido de Pride x Pascua de Villa Burgos)

For years, I dreamed of finding a mare from the old lines my family bred and cherished in Puerto Rico.

The original Toñita was a standout—Champion in both Paso Fino and Bellas Formas in the 1960s and early 1970s, the “golden era” of the Pure Puerto Rican Paso Fino. In his book “Breeding Better Paso Fino Horses,” Gaztambide wrote: “She is perhaps the greatest mare of today.” Toñita was sired by Soñador out of Toña La Negra (Mediodía x a Céfiro mare). She wasn’t just a champion; she produced champions: Alicante and Toña La Negra II (Pincel), Danubio (Carabalí), Bizcocho Jr. and Anijoe (Bizcocho), Bohique (Papirus), and more. While this line is no longer available on the island, Alicante, Anijoe, and Danubio were imported to the United States, so her line lives on here.

After searching and searching, my friend Pedro Burgos bred his Champion mare Pascua de Villa Burgos (an Alicante descendant) to Fuego Rapido de Pride (Alicante’s grandson). The filly that arrived had markings like her great-granddam, so we named her “Toñita.”

Our Toñita turned three two weeks ago. We’re bringing her along quietly, without rushing—just letting her do what she knows best: to naturally gait in Paso Fino.

Come meet her! She’ll be in Columbia, South Carolina, on October 8–9, at the 2025 Classic Celebration Show. We’d love to see you there and introduce you to Toñita and some of our other horses.

Today was MAGNÎFICAT de Krysia time outdoors! He loves to run and play, and he’s the sweetest soul. When a friend stopped by, he gaited right to the fence to say hello. What he lacks in size, he more than makes up for in heart.

Magnîficat is by Doble Réplica del Caribe out of Bonita de Krysia, and he will be available as a gelding for the right price.

Pa'que te lo voy a decir si no me vas a creer... esta yegua está "cabriola..." Tengo videos, pero no los voy a subir. La tienen que ver en vivo y a todo color en el Classic Celebration Show que se va a celebrar el 8 y 9 de Octubre en Columbia, SC.

Pedro Burgos en los controles... y cada vez que la m***a se baja como un perro con dos rabos. Te lo digo, aunque no me creas: Cabriola está cabriola...

Chestnut with a flaxen mane and tail is the signature color at Hacienda Pisaflores. We do have horses of other colors, but the genetic makeup of our breeding program is the "guajanos," as they are called in Spanish. So, we have a few... But color alone does not make a great Pure Puerto Rican Paso Fino. That is why we focus on producing well-conformed, beautiful horses with great temperament and the correct Fino Fino gait. Pisaflores' TELÉGRAFO is a vivid example of what we are achieving at our farm.
