***Kenzi is PENDING as of 08/26/26***

It breaks our hearts to make this post, but it appears our good friend, Eloise of Shingletown, CA, is in the final stages of losing her battle with cancer.

I first met Eloise in 2018, when we were looking to place our Czech import, Uma z Holykova, IPO2 into a retirement home. Now mind you, Uma was one of the most hard-core girls we've ever had. She could be sweet and she loved HER people but could also be quite intimidating with those she didn't know or trust. Eloise contacted me and we met her at a park in Palo Cedro so she could meet Uma. After leaving, I told John that I didn't think she could handle Uma. That Uma was "too much dog" for her. But Eloise was persistent and convinced me to give her a chance. She completely amazed me and formed an incredible bond with Uma, who she loved until her final days.

After Uma passed at eleven, she contacted me again and wanted to adopt Karma, Uma's daughter. Everything was set for Karma to go live with Eloise, but tragedy struck and we lost Karma to hemorrhaging within hours of her spay surgery. Eloise was devastated and we both mourned the loss of our sweet Karma.

Then when Kenzi, Karma's sister and another Uma daughter, became available for adoption, Eloise jumped at the chance and welcomed Kenzi into her home. Over the past few years, Kenzi and Eloise were joined at the hip and Kenzi was there with her as she received her cancer diagnosis until the very end, when there was no more fight left.

When speaking with Eloise's family, they described Kenzi as "special" and said she had done so much for Eloise. That she was basically a service dog to her. Kenzi is calm, quiet, comforting and completely focused on her one and only person. It's like no one else exists.

Now with Eloise's passing, Kenzi, who turned nine in April, will be looking for a place to spend her final years. She is always welcome at our home, but we are hoping that Kenzi will find a place where she can get all the attention for herself. Kenzi is now used to having that one-on-one relationship where she lives in the home and I'd hate to have her back in a kennel with multiple other dogs. It just doesn't seem fair to her.

Kenzi would do best in a home where she is made a member of the family. She's still very active and I would prefer a home with a fenced yard. She LOVES fetch, food, kongs and her people. She is spayed, has certified "a-normal" hips and elbows, is DM Clear, AKC registered, UTD on vaccinations and microchipped. Her dam was G Uma z Holykova, IPO2, imported from the Czech Republic and the sire was SG Winnetou vom Ritterland, IPO3 imported from Germany and of DDR lines. I suspect she'd do fine with kids and other dogs, especially males. She has not been tested with cats, but I suspect that if they ran, she would chase.

We are hoping to find the perfect match for Kenzi. We are not asking for a rehoming fee, but we will be VERY selective as she's going to need lots of love and comfort after losing her person.

Our prayers go out to Eloise's family and friends. If you feel you could offer her dog, Kenzi, a wonderful home, please reach out to me at:

Shelby is still looking for her perfect 🏡 !

****Currently located in Marin County, CA****

Shelby is a spayed, working line German Shepherd girl whelped on 06/06/2022. She is microchipped, AKC registered and UTD on all vaccinations. Although her family hates to see her go, they have decided to make the difficult decision to find her a new, more appropriate home that is more equipped to handle her high prey drive.

A bit about Shelby. Shelby is a higher energy/drive girl who loves to play fetch. She's friendly with other dogs and has had lots of exposure to young children, who she's very gentle with. She is potty trained and does not need potty breaks throughout the night. She knows "heel, sit, down, stay, rollover, come, wait and on-your-mark" commands. She walks very well on leash until she's distracted by a squirrel, deer, coyote, cat, etc. She is crate trained and loves her crate. She does great in a car and will wait inside without barking at anyone. Although she prefers to be with her family/pack members, she can be left alone in the home without issues and does not suffer from destructive behavior.

The family loves Shelby very much but are having a difficult time controlling her prey drive, which is not conducive to their current living situation where there is lots of wildlife and limited boundaries. We highly recommend working with a trainer familiar with the use of e-collars as this is the most effective training tool to address prey drive and off-leash control for safety purposes. If you have an aversion to using this tool, Shelby probably isn't the right dog for your family as she loves the chase. We also require a secure, fenced yard to adopt Shelby. Other than her high prey drive, Shelby would be a great addition to almost any family. ABSOLUTELY NO CATS.

Shelby's parents were both health-tested and come from imported Czech, West German and DDR working lines.

She is discounted for quick placement but she is NOT FREE OR CHEAP. If we don’t find her the perfect 🛋️, she will be coming back to us in the next couple of weeks.

Penelope, from our L2 (Arrko/Aschenputel) litter just turned one year old on the 15th of August! What a beautiful girl she’s become! She’s living her best life with her family right here in Oregon! Here’s what her family has to say about her:

“Hi Diana,

Little Miss Penelope aka (Baby P, Panini, Penny, Potato) is doing absolutely wonderful! She has been a great addition to our family. She’s such a smart and incredibly sweet girl! She loves cuddles (cuddling with me as I’m typing this) and play time! We celebrated her very 1st birthday on the 15th with a homemade birthday cake, a birthday hat and presents (don’t think she was very fond of the birthday hat but she was such a good sport lol) I will attach some pictures of her on her birthday. We’ve taken her to the beach a few times and she loves it! I can’t say enough about this sweet baby girl, we are so extremely blessed to have her!❤️”

Happy belated birthday, sweet Penelope!

Pupdate:

Beautiful Sadie Sue turned seven years old this year and this is what her human mama has to say about her:

"My sweet Sadie Sue turned 7 on Saturday (7/25)! Here are some pics of her from on her birthday (a few also from days right before or after her birthday). Sadie is my heart/soul dog and she continues to be a shining light in my life. She is happiest when I’m with her, regardless our location, toilet included 🤪 She loves dinner time, going on car rides, barking at the back fence, dragging her sister around by the scruff of the neck (🤦🏻‍♀️), carrying a ball in her mouth, going on walks, and rough/tumble play with her sister. She also has so much fun in protection training; however, we haven’t been there since April 2025 due to my shoulder injury at the time and high training cost. Sadie loves to be up on my bed until lights out and then takes up watch in the corner in front of the bedroom door. She has a huge grease stain on the wall in that corner that I will have to cut out and keep when the very dreaded day comes that she crosses the rainbow bridge. Thankfully she continues to maintain excellent health (minus some cracked/wearing down teeth from chomping Benebone-type toys), and shows no signs of slowing down yet ❤️🥰❤️

I sure do love my Sadie Sue sooooo much and couldn’t imagine my life if she hadn’t become a part of it."

Let's all wish this sweet girl a belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY! She doesn't look a day over two ...

Good girl, Heidi ♥️💕

A fisherman off the coast of Queensland spotted something strange in the water around 6am: a German shepherd treading water near a fuel tank, a wetsuit, and other floating debris that had no business being out there on their own.

He pulled her to safety and called it in immediately. Something about the scattered equipment made police treat it as more than a stray-dog call from the start.

Brisbane Water Police launched a full search: a helicopter, four police vessels, a jet ski, and volunteer Coast Guard crews spread across the bay. More debris turned up as they worked, enough to suggest a boat had gone down somewhere nearby.

At 10:25 that morning, crews found the dog's 63-year-old owner clinging to his partially sunken vessel near Brisbane Boat Passage.

He was alive. He later told police the boat had lost power the evening before and started taking on water, and that he'd drifted for close to 15 hours before anyone found him.

Heidi had survived in the bay for roughly 11 hours before the fisherman noticed her, swimming and treading water the entire time with nothing to hold onto.

Her discovery is the only reason searchers knew to look for a person at all.

Update on Ransom, from our T2 (Ben & Jerry) litter. Here’s what his family has to say about him:

“Ransom is doing wonderfully. He’s growing into a very athletic dog. His stride is getting powerful, and he’s incredibly agile, especially when he’s weaving through the brush or running the small hills on our property. He’s motivated by both toys and food, which has made training easy and fun. His sit, come, and stay are very solid, and he usually walks beautifully on a loose leash.

He’s also becoming quite snuggly. He loves belly rubs and has about a half dozen “magic scratch spots” that make his legs kick. Both ears are standing strong. He’s lost all his tiny front teeth except a couple on the bottom and is just starting to lose the little pointy ones right next to his canines; his canines are still in.

His personality is a great mix of sweet and mischievous. He loves grabbing toys and trying to get us to chase him. We’ve noticed a bit more protective instinct developing lately. He’ll alert bark, stand between me and strangers, and be a little hesitant at first, but he warms up within a few minutes and is still doing well with people.

We attempted to take him on his first camping trip but found out upon arrival that we were in a level 3 evacuation related to the Spokane Complex fires. We had to turn around right after unpacking to come home. Ransom spent nine hours driving that day unfortunately with barely any exercise. He is an awesome passenger in the car and did very, very well. Although, I did have to run him quite a bit before he could “join the party” of other evacuated guests at my mom’s house, that was to be expected after being cooped up for such a long time. Our home is thankfully safe.

Overall, he’s turning into a confident, bonded, athletic boy, and we just love him dearly.”

Keep up the good work, Ransom!

We are planning a repeat of this pairing in 2027.

Two-year old Forest update from our I2 (Maggie Mae/Niko) litter. Here’s what his mama has to say about him:

“Forest is turning into the best boy. His trainers always ask for him to attend their group obedience and pack walk activities because he is so great with other dogs, especially small ones or rescues who have been hurt by big dogs. He is neutral but friendly and will hold a down and let kittens or small dogs, or even small children come up and and see him. He is also not afraid to set boundaries with bigger dogs who get too aggressive.

He has very big feelings and is still reactive at home when people come to the door, but he has improved so much, and I feel very safe with him on the job. When it’s hot like this, we do many of our walks in Sportsman’s, Hobby Lobby, Lowe’s and Home Depot. He is always a gentleman and while he doesn’t like people just approaching or petting him, he is patient, especially for kids or people in wheelchairs. He is not everyone’s dog, but I didn’t want everyone’s dog. As long as he can be near me, he is happy.

He loves the water and he loves his toys and playing. He is very toy-motivated when we train. He has a sense of humor and likes to trick me and show off. He loves it when I pretend not to know where he is, and look around, calling him. He is afraid of funny things like feathers, even the tiny ones that come out of down pillows. He has a deep, baying howl that he reserves only for sirens, and he is so handsome that sometimes he literally stops traffic. He is my best friend.

As always, thank you for my beautiful boy.”

Good boy, Forest!
