Luring 101

Today is National Cat Day—and we’re letting the cat out of the bag: luring isn’t only for dogs! 🐈💨

Many cats love stalking, pouncing and chasing a moving lure. It taps into their natural instincts while providing fun physical and mental activity.

Does your cat chase anything that moves? Tell us about your little hunter—and share a photo! 📸

What a day at One Loudoun Bark Bash! 🐾🎃

Thank you to One Loudoun for having Luring 101 and to everyone who stopped by to let their pups experience the thrill of the chase. We had so much fun watching dogs of every size and experience level discover the lure course—and seeing all the fantastic Halloween costumes along the way!

Now we want to hear from you: Do you know of a pet expo, community festival, fundraiser or other dog-friendly event that would be even more fun with Luring 101?

Tag the event below or send us your ideas! We’re always looking for new places where dogs can run, chase and show us what they’ve got. 🐕💨

What are they chasing, anyway? 🤔

The “prey” on a lure course isn’t an animal—it’s an artificial lure pulled quickly around the course with plenty of turns and changes in direction.

To us, it may look simple. To a chase-loving dog, it might be the most exciting thing they’ve seen all day!

Would your dog chase it immediately—or look back at you for an explanation?

You know the look. 👀

The lure starts moving. The ears go up. The body gets very still—and suddenly, your dog has never been more focused on anything in their life.

That moment when instinct takes over is one of our favorite parts of Luring 101.

Does your dog have a serious “I’m ready to chase” face? Show us in the comments! 📸
