A NEW CHAPTER FOR MATTHIAS PERFORMANCE HORSES

After years of growing up in the barn, showing horses, riding alongside our family, and learning every part of the horse business, we are excited to officially announce that Eva Matthias is stepping into her role as a professional trainer with Matthias Performance Horses.

Eva has been around horses her entire life and has gained experience not only in the show ring, but also behind the scenes — from starting and developing horses to daily barn work, riding, showing, and working with horse-and-rider partnerships.

Her passion has always been centered around helping horses and riders reach their full potential. Now, she is ready to take everything she has learned and begin building her own path within Matthias Performance Horses.

This is more than just a new title. It represents years of hard work, countless hours in the saddle, early mornings, late nights, lessons learned, and a lifelong love for the horse industry.

We are incredibly proud to watch Eva take this next step and excited to see where this new chapter takes her.

🐴 Iowa Equestrian Team is BACK! 🐴

We are so excited to be starting the Iowa Equestrian Team back up for the 2026–2027 season!

And just to clarify — IET isn’t only for 4th–12th grade riders! We also have an Alumni division for adults who are not currently competing on a college riding team. 🎉

We welcome:

⭐ 4th–12th Grade Riders
⭐ Adult/Alumni Riders

Whether you’re looking to compete, improve your riding, get back into showing, or just be part of a fun team atmosphere, we’d love to have you!

We compete through YEDA (Youth Equestrian Development Association) and have divisions available for different levels of riders.

Vivian & Lil Dude

We are proud to have Vivian and Lil Dude from Matthias Performance Horses representing the Des Moines Polo Club in the Iowa State Fair Senior Cowgirl Queen competition.

Lil Dude is owned by Jill Rittmer, and this is Vivian and Lil Dude’s first year participating in the Cowgirl Queen competition. We’re excited to watch them take on this opportunity and represent their club and the equestrian community at the Iowa State Fair.
