Congratulations to Duke, our newest Board & Train graduate! 🐾🎓

Duke put in the work, learned some great new skills, and officially graduated like the handsome overachiever he is. And Trainer Karsyn learned something important along the way… she LOVES Doberman. 😂❤️

A few fun facts about this amazing breed:

🐾 They’re true “Velcro dogs.” Dobermans are famously people-oriented and often want to be right by their person’s side.

🧠 They’re incredibly intelligent. Dobermans are quick learners and usually thrive with training, structure, and mental challenges.

🇩🇪 They have a unique history. The breed was developed in Germany by Karl Friedrich Louis Dobermann, a tax collector who wanted a loyal and protective companion.

😂 They can be total goofballs. Their serious, elegant appearance can be deceiving—many Dobermans are silly, playful, and full of personality at home.

🏃 They’re natural athletes. Dobermans are energetic, agile dogs that often excel when given an active lifestyle and a job to do.

Possession games can be an incredibly valuable training tool when they’re done the right way. 🐾

Structured games like tug, holding an item, trading, and releasing on cue can help build confidence, engagement, impulse control, and trust between you and your dog. They also teach dogs that giving something up doesn’t mean the fun is over—which can reduce conflict around toys and help create a more reliable “drop it” or “out.”

The key is structure: the dog should learn when the game starts, when it stops, and how to stay responsive even while excited. Done properly, possession games aren’t just play—they’re a powerful way to build better communication and self-control.

Duke the Doberman has made himself right at home, and one of his favorite parts of his stay has been spending time with Trainer Karsyn’s personal dogs in between training ! 🐶

These moments are what make training with us so special. Yes, we’re here to build better obedience, confidence, and manners—but we’re also here to make sure your dog feels safe, loved, and part of the family while they’re away from theirs. ❤️

Duke came for the training… but we’re pretty sure he’s leaving with a few new best friends, too. 🥰🐾 He may even ask his dad if he can come back for playdates 😂

Meet Duke, a handsome 6-month-old Doberman who just joined Trainer Karsyn for our 1-Week Board & Train! 🎓🐶

Duke is a social guy who loves people and does great at daycare, but like many young pups, he has a few behaviors that are making everyday life a little more challenging for Dad.

During his stay, Karsyn will be working with Duke on:

🚗 Car manners — helping him learn to stay calmer so trips don’t have to be such a struggle
🦮 Leash manners — addressing pulling and building a better, more enjoyable walk
🐾 Jumping — teaching him that four paws on the floor gets him much further!
🗣️ Excessive barking — building better impulse control and appropriate responses
🏠 Potty habits & structure — reinforcing consistency after some recent potty training regression
🧠 Overall obedience & reliability — creating a stronger foundation Dad can continue at home
