FUR Animal Rescue is a state licensed and 501c3 non profit animal rescue dedicated to finding homes or rescue for animals at the North Platte Animal Shelter through evaluating the dogs and cats, creating and providing the pets with information tags for their shelter kennel, taking pictures and videos for online networking and helping to link up potential adopters with pets in need. Our primary goal is to save the pets in our local shelter. We are NOT the shelter. We are volunteers for the shelter. We give names to the nameless, tags to the unknown and hope for the hopeless. We provide rescue, vet care, foster homes and shelter for certain pets in need at the shelter; such as those who are injured, ill, or those who are not acclimating well in the shelter environment, or those whose time is up. Our entire purpose is to give a second chance to the pets in our local shelter, whom otherwise may not have one. All animals pulled into FUR Rescue are fully vetted by our veterinarians and assessed in a foster home (dogs) or at our FURcility (cats) to get to know their personality and likes/dislikes. Adoptions require (simple) applications and a short process to help provide a forever fit and reassurance of your commitment to the pets that we rescue. What we do is called 'shelter rescue.' Our city hosts a city run facility, basically animal control with housing. It is not a humane society or an adoption agency. The staff is small and unable to focus on adoptions - which is our organizations priority, as VOLUNTEERS. Our primary goal is to save lives at our local shelter. We focus on the lives there, first and foremost. This means we cannot take owner surrenders or stray animals into our rescue, as it is a full time commitment already to saving those in our local shelter. Keeping this city shelter no kill, is a full time responsibility. FUR Animal Rescue also rescues and provides vet care, foster homes and rehoming for animals in need within the community, when/if we are able. We work with very limited foster homes, as we are just two people with full time jobs and simply can not take on more than we can handle. FUR Animal Rescue relies completely on fundraising, Cans For Critters (www.facebook.com/NPCansforCritters) and personal/community donations to help animals. If you would like to make a donation, please visit our donation link at:
paypal.me/FurtheLoveofPAWS
venmo

We also co-run the North Platte Pet Food Pantry (www.facebook.com/NorthPlattePetFoodPantry) and solely run Lost Paws (www.facebook.com/LostPawsNorthPlatte)

Our director also runs Lost Paws, a facebook networking page to help reunite owners with lost and found pets - thus keeping them out of the city shelter. We have a program called Snip it in the Bud to assist with the spay and neuter of feral and stray cats. If you need assistance for this, please message us. We are Incorporated, licensed by the Dept. of Ag/State of NE. (NE 3060513) and a 501c3 Non Profit Rescue. www.FurtheLoveofPAWSRescue.com

โ˜€๏ธ Meet SUMMER SNUGGLES, available for Adoption through FUR Animal Rescue!
RESCUE DATE: May 15

Summer Snuggles is 6 years old, and her story is one of love, loss, resilience, and hope.
For six years, Summer had a family. She had a home. She had a person.
Then life changed.

When Summer's owner was diagnosed with cancer, an incredibly difficult decision had to be made. Through no fault of her own, Summer found herself at the North Platte Animal Shelter, confused, terrified, and grieving the only life she had ever known.

The shelter environment was simply too much for her. She shut down. She was frightened, withdrawn, and eventually deemed unadoptable. Heartbroken and believing there were no other options, her owner returned for her and made arrangements for euthanasia at a vet clinic. Thankfully, Summer's veterinarian believed there had to be another way.
They reached out to FUR Animal Rescue and asked if we would give her a chance.
Without hesitation, we said yes.

Since arriving at the FURcility, Summer has made tremendous progress. She has never been a social butterfly, and that's okay. Summer is an introvert at heart. She takes her time. She watches before she participates. She thinks before she trusts.
But little by little, she has allowed us in.

We've watched her become comfortable. We've watched her learn routines. We've watched her begin to trust again. We've watched glimpses of the cat she was before her entire world was turned upside down.
The truth is, Summer is still carrying a bit of a broken heart. Not because she isn't loved here, but because what she really needs now is a home.
Some cats need the FURcility for months or even years while they heal and learn how to be cats again. Summer needed us, and it has been our privilege to help her. But we truly believe she is ready for the next chapter.

She is ready for a quiet couch, familiar surroundings, gentle companionship, and a family of her own. She is ready to stop living in transition and start living her life again.
And honestly, Summer is a pretty simple girl.

Summer isn't overly playful. She isn't wild or energetic. She isn't looking to be the center of attention. Summer is incredibly chill. She loves affection, enjoys laying next to her people, and finds comfort in simply being near those she trusts. Her favorite things are the simple things in life: a cozy place to nap, a big window to watch the world go by, and a home where she feels safe and secure.

Summer is okay with other cats, but she is easily intimidated by them and tends to keep to herself. While she can coexist peacefully with feline companions, we believe she would thrive most as the only cat in a calm, quiet home. She isn't looking for excitement, constant activity, or a house full of commotion. After everything she has been through, she deserves a peaceful place where she can finally relax, heal her heart, and simply be herself.

We know Summer will adjust fairly quickly in the right home. After all she's been through, she's ready to get back to life as she knows it. She's ready for a routine. She's ready for companionship. She's ready for sunny windows, afternoon naps, and a family to call her own.

Summer's story could have ended very differently.
Instead, she was given a second chance.
Now she's looking for someone to share it with.

If you have a quiet home, a warm lap, and room in your heart for a sweet, easygoing companion, Summer Snuggles may be exactly who you've been waiting for.
She has survived the hardest chapter of her life.
We think it's finally time for her happily ever after.

Border Collies are a true cattle and livestock herding breed, bred to work all day using intelligence, stamina, and intense focus. They are not couch potato dogs.
They thrive in active homes that can provide:
-Daily exercise
-Mental stimulation and training
-Structure and routine
-Time and interaction with their people
Without enough activity, Border Collies can become anxious, destructive, obsessive, or try to โ€œherdโ€ kids, pets, bikes, and cars. In the right home, they are incredibly loyal, smart, and devoted companions.

๐Ÿพ AVAILABLE FOR IMMEDIATE ADOPTION THROUGH FUR ANIMAL RESCUE ๐Ÿพ

Meet Moe.
Moe's journey to FUR Animal Rescue has not been a simple one. She has experienced significant change and needed time, patience, and support to rediscover what it means to feel safe and loved. Out of respect for everyone involved, we are choosing to keep most of her story private, but serious adopters - please to contact us for additional information.

What matters most is who Moe is today.

Since arriving at the FURcility, Moe has flourished. With routine, veterinary care, proper nutrition, enrichment, and lots of love, she has transformed into a sweet, affectionate, and incredibly grateful cat.
Moe absolutely loves people. She enjoys being held, cuddled, and loved on, and she may very well be one of the easiest cats we've helped. Her absolute favorite thing in the world is simple - - her cat bed in the window. She is there almost nonstop! She just loves it โค๏ธ

She is great with children. Due to her history, she can be a little persbickety about other cats. Patient adjustment and slow introductions would be recommended.

One of our favorite things about Moe is her gentle, mellow personality. She's the kind of cat who simply wants a soft place to nap, a sunny window to watch the world go by, and a family to call her own.
Moe is looking for a calm, stable, indoor-only home with people who understand that trust and confidence continue to grow over time. She will thrive with consistency, patience, and lots of love.
Despite life's challenges, Moe remains loving, gentle, and hopeful.
And we think that says everything you need to know about her. โค๏ธ
