Those that have been waiting for Patsy to come into season. It has finally happened!! I start progesterone testing Monday the 11th. Please PM me if you're still interested. I know many are tired of waiting for her and have moved on, but I need to know who is still waiting.

Preventing unwanted litters is a goal we all share—but it's time to rethink the surgical approach. Hysterectomies and vasectomies, which preserve hormonal balance, can safely be performed as early as 8 weeks of age, making dogs sterile without disrupting their natural hormones.

In this study, researchers looked at whether the age at which dogs were spayed or neutered, meaning how long they were exposed to their natural s*x hormones, affected how healthy they were in old age. They studied a group of long-lived pet dogs to learn what helps dogs live longer, healthier lives. Dogs with the fewest age-related health problems were considered the most “robust.”

The results showed that both male and female dogs who kept their hormones longer (i.e., were spayed or neutered later) were 3 to 10 times more likely to be healthy in old age compared to those altered earlier. Once hormone exposure and age were taken into account, there was no difference in old-age health between males and females.

This study highlights how important s*x hormones may be for staying healthy later in life and shows that early-life decisions—like when to spay or neuter—can have long-term effects on health.

Unfortunately short sighted “price shoppers” want a puppy NOW and want it CHEAP. That gets you a dog that costs you almost double to triple what a well bred, pure bred puppy from health tested parents costs initially. Yes things can still happen but preservation breeders are just that, they want to preserve what the essence of a breed is for years to come. Cheap usually means genetic nightmare with numerous health issues. If they can’t produce proof of health testing, stay away.

Putting two dogs together and breeding them doesn’t make them well bred if zero thought was put into future health, structure, and temperament. That’s unethical and not taking responsibility for what is being intentionally brought into this world.

Saw this posted and wanted to share ❤️❤️

Because I Loved Them First...

I didn’t sleep.
When I did it was in a whelping pen
Because I loved them first

I did all the health testing I could
I did pre and post whelping care
Because I loved them first

I miss life events, family gatherings, work, sleep and wouldn't have it any other way
My dogs come first that’s why all the questions
Because I loved them first

I cried over a still born I did CPR on for 20 min
I worried and cried and prayed over the weak and tiny ones fighting for them
I bottle fed and clean a million linens
Because I loved them first

I was the first to hold them
I was the first to trim their nails
I was first to give them a bath
I gave them confidence and encouragement
Because I loved them first

I will always take them back into my home
Because I loved them first

I worry and have sleepless nights even when they go to your home
Because I loved them first

When you call me with issues
Do not feel as though I do not care because remember
I LOVED THEM FIRST ❤️
