FIDO's Companion Rescue Inc. FIDO's Companion Inc. Weekly we rescue dogs as well from many other rural county shelter in mid and southern Ohio and KY before they are put to sleep.

is a small non-profit 501(c)3 organization operating in Lorain County made up of volunteers who perform vital functions in the process of rescuing animals. We primarily rescue dogs from the streets in our County and County Dog Pound or ill/injured dogs coming into our Vet Clinic from Cuyahoga County. We secondarily assist with taking in homeless stray dogs and funding the spay/neuter of homeless d

ogs and cats for other independent local rescuers and vet clinics who take them in off the street and work to rehome them. Lastly, we help fund the Spay/Neuter of dogs that low income owners cannot afford. FIDO's Companion rescue strives to find new adoptive families willing to make a lifetime commitment and be lifetime companions for each dog we rescue. Our focus is on the QUALITY of life we provide to one canine companion at a time. FIDO's Companion believes that the value of what we do is not in the Quantity of animals we save, but in the Quality of the new life we provide to them. We also know we cannot rescue our way out of pet overpopulation, therefore, we work in our rescue and with our community to ensure spay/neuter is achieved for animals we come into contact with or are made aware of needing altered. We also strive to educate the public including school age children about humane treatment of animals and the importance of spaying and neutering pets

Meet Hank!

Hank is a 5 year old, 80 pound pittie who is fully vetted and potty trained.

Hank came to us through no fault of his own when his owner was no longer able to care for him. He’s a friendly, affectionate dog who enjoys being around people and thrives on companionship. Hank does well with other large dogs, making him a great candidate for a home with a similarly sized canine buddy.

Hank prefers the comforts of home over confinement and does not do well being caged, so he’s looking for a family who can offer him space, routine, and understanding. He would do best in a home without cats or small dogs, and we feel he’d be happiest with older kids who can respect his size and boundaries.

If you’re looking for a loyal, lovable companion who just wants to be part of the family (and not stuck in a crate), Hank may be your perfect match. 🐾

Meet Diamond!

Diamond is a 5–6 year old, 31 pound sweetheart who is searching for a long-term palliative care foster to give her the love and comfort she deserves.

When Diamond came to us, it was clear she had been the result of backyard breeding—likely an attempt to create a “pocket pit”—which unfortunately left her with several significant medical challenges. She has structural issues with her legs, and due to the complexity of her condition, surgical options are both extremely costly and very high-risk. Because of this, we have chosen to focus on keeping her comfortable through pain management and allowing her to enjoy her life to the fullest.

Diamond also has a breathing condition related to her breeding that required surgery to repair.

Despite everything she’s been through, Diamond is truly an incredible dog. She is:
• Extremely friendly and affectionate
• Great with calm, respectful dogs
• Good with cats
• Wonderful with kids

She has so much love to give and deserves a safe, stable home where she can relax and be cherished.

Fido’s Companion Rescue will cover all veterinary expenses for the rest of Diamond’s life. All we need is a compassionate home willing to open their heart to her and give her the forever foster she so deeply deserves.

Meet Gary!

Gary is a 7-year-old, 26-pound beagle mix who checks just about every box. He is friendly, easygoing, and full of charm. Gary absolutely loves other dogs — sometimes a little too much at first — but his enthusiasm is all in good fun. He would be happy living with another dog who can handle his excitement, or he’d do just as well soaking up all the love as an only dog.

While he doesn’t love being crated, he does great being left out of the crate and settles comfortably on his own. He is extremely food motivated, which makes him a joy to work with and eager to please. He walks beautifully on a leash.

He is friendly and affectionate with everyone he meets, and once he’s done exploring his surroundings, Gary’s favorite place to be is curled up next to his person. He is a true cuddle bug who just wants to be close. Gary is cat-friendly.

Meet Charlie!

Charlie is a 10 year old, 32 pound beagle mix.

Are you looking for a walking buddy?

This senior guy is relaxed and calm indoors and is not really interested all that much in toys, but take him outside and his personality comes alive!

Charlie LOVES his walks! He will walk quickly in short bursts, then he'll tire out.

He gets along with other dogs, but not so much with cats. Charlie would be fine being your only companion. He will follow "his person" everywhere!

Bree has an incredibly sweet personality. She is the definition of a “lap dog” and loves to sit on laps while relaxing, watching TV, and working! She loves cuddles and is a great companion for any family! Bree has not barked, but will make the cutest grunting/whining noises to get your attention when she needs something!

Bree is more interested in people than other dogs. Although she has lived with other dogs in the past, she would likely be happiest living as the only dog, or possibly with a larger dog that gives her space.

Meet Hopper!

Hopper is a 1-year-old, 42 pound Lab mix who is fully vetted, crate & potty trained.

This sweet boy had a rough start—he was found as a stray in heartbreaking condition, so hungry that he tried to eat anything he could find just to survive. Unfortunately, that led to an intestinal obstruction that required surgery. But Hopper is a fighter! He has fully recovered, gained back the weight he needed, and is now thriving in foster care.

Despite everything he’s been through, Hopper’s spirit is nothing but joyful. He is incredibly friendly and greets everyone he meets like an old friend. People, dogs, cats —you name it, Hopper is happy to make new buddies.

Hopper is also very food motivated, which makes him a great candidate for continued training.

This resilient boy is ready to leave his tough past behind and start the happy life he deserves. If you’re looking for a loving, friendly companion who will greet you with wagging tail and endless affection, Hopper might just be your perfect match.

We cannot begin to express how thankful we are to Milk-Bone, DC STUDIOS CENTRAL:Supergirls, and the Cleveland Guardians for their incredible $10,000 donation to Huxter’s cause.

Huxter, we hope you know that your life and story are going to save so many more dogs just like you. ❤️

With this generous gift, along with the additional $12,000 raised by Huxter’s supporters, we are committed to paying it forward in Huxter’s honor.

Today, we are proud to introduce the first two recipients of Huxter’s Promise Fund. Fido’s Companion Rescue, Inc. has officially welcomed Ford and Ola into our palliative care program. Through this program, they will receive the medical care, comfort, and love they deserve, while living in forever foster homes for the rest of their lives.

And this is only the beginning.

To continue Huxter’s legacy, Fido’s is dedicating May 25 of every year as Huxter’s Promise Day — a promise to help dogs like him receive love, dignity, and compassion during their final chapter.

Beginning this year, Fido’s will commit to taking in at least one hospice or palliative care dog every May 25 in remembrance of Huxter. 🐾 🌈
