✨🐾 Monday Motivation, brought to you by Stevie. 🐾✨

Some Mondays call for coffee...

Stevie says they call for twirls. 💃

This adorable 3-year-old Schnoodle recently stopped by for her annual wellness visit, including her physical exam, rabies vaccine, distemper vaccine, and heartworm test. Between showing us how healthy she's been and soaking up all the love from our team, she also gave us a few of her signature spins.

Now, we're not saying she's named after the one and only Stevie Nicks...
..but she certainly came prepared to channel her inner White Witch. ✨

She twirled her way through her visit, handled everything like an absolute professional, and reminded us that routine wellness visits don't have to be scary. (Treats and extra pets definitely help. 😉)

Thank you for making our Monday a little brighter, Stevie. We can't wait to watch you keep growing—and maybe perfect a few more twirls along the way. 💙

🐾"It's just one paw... should I be worried?"

You glance over and notice your dog has been licking the **same paw** over... and over... and over again.

Sometimes it's nothing.

Sometimes it's your dog's way of saying, **"Hey... something doesn't feel right."**

A dog who keeps licking one specific paw could be trying to tell us about:

🌿 A grass awn or small foreign object stuck between the toes

🌼 Seasonal allergies causing itchy, irritated skin

💅 A broken nail or nail bed injury

🐾 A cut, scrape, splinter, or even a bee sting

🦴 Pain higher up in the leg that's making them focus on the paw

🦠 An infection that may not be obvious at first glance

Here's the tricky part...

Unlike us, our dogs can't point to where it hurts. Licking is one of the ways they try to tell us something isn't quite right.

If the licking doesn't stop, you notice redness, swelling, limping, a bad smell, or your pup seems uncomfortable, it's a good idea to have them checked out. The sooner we figure out *why* they're licking, the sooner we can help them feel better.

💙 We know that sometimes the smallest changes tell us the biggest stories. If you're ever unsure whether something is worth having looked at, give us a call. We'd much rather answer your questions early than have your best friend stay uncomfortable.

🎉🐾 Officially Part of the Pack! 🐾🎉

Everyone say hello to Finnegan! 💙

This handsome little English Setter puppy recently joined the Wickford Vet Clinic family, and let's just say... we were all a little smitten. (Seriously... just look at that face! 🥹)

English Setters aren't a breed we get to see every day, which made meeting Finnegan even more exciting! He's full of personality, endless puppy curiosity, and has already made quite the impression on our team.

So far, Finnegan has been busy checking all the important puppy boxes:
✔️ First round of vaccines
✔️ F***l testing (because around here, we're definitely Team No GI Parasites 😉)
✔️ Starting his parasite prevention journey
✔️ Winning over every single one of us

Watching our patients grow from tiny puppies into happy, healthy adults is one of the greatest parts of what we do, and we can't wait to be part of Finnegan's journey every step of the way.

Welcome to the Wickford family, Fin—we already adore you, and we have a feeling you're going to keep us smiling for years to come. ❤️🐾

📋🐾 **Meet our newest employee... Piccy.** 🐾

When we found ourselves a little short-staffed, Piccy decided it was finally time to clock in.

His qualifications?

🐱 Professional purr machine.
🐾 Expert keyboard supervisor.
💙 Certified morale booster.
✨ Occasional quality control inspector.

Honestly... we think He's fitting in pretty well.

With a day full of seeing dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, and even the occasional amphibian, sometimes you need an extra set of paws to keep the team smiling.

A huge thank you to Brittany for letting us borrow this tiny coworker for today's shift. We have a feeling Piccy is going to be asking HR about full-time benefits by the end of the day. 😂

Now accepting applications from kittens willing to work for treats, toys, and unlimited cuddles. 🩺🐾❤️

It's been a little quiet over here lately.

Life has a funny way of keeping all of us busy, and while we've been spending our days caring for wagging tails, curious kittens, and everything in between, we realized something...

We've missed sharing those moments with you.

If there's one thing we never want to take for granted, it's this incredible community you've built with us. Whether you've trusted us with your pet for years or you've only recently joined the Wickford family, thank you.

💙🐾 **Feel Good Friday: Meet Lucky!** 🐾💙

Okay... we have a question.

If your kid (human, of course) came running up to you at Oakland Beach saying, "Mom! I found a kitten!"...
..would you believe them? 😂

Well Lucky's mom did!

And sure enough, tucked among the seaweed was the tiniest little fluffball just waiting for someone to find her.

This sweet girl recently came to see Dr. Lorenson for her very first checkup, and she's already settling into her new life beautifully. She's growing, gaining confidence, and learning that people aren't so scary after all.

We see a lot of incredible patients, but stories like Lucky's always have a way of sticking with us. It's a reminder that sometimes life has a funny way of putting the right people in the right place at exactly the right time.

We're so thankful her family listened when one very determined kid said, "There's a kitten!"

Something tells us Lucky ended up exactly where she was meant to be. 🥹

💊 "How do you know if it's the right medication?"

It's one of the best questions a pet owner can ask us.

The truth is, we don't prescribe medications because we want your pet on something—we prescribe them because we want your pet on the *right* track.

Whether it's an antibiotic to clear up an infection, medication to help ease pain, or something to take the edge off anxiety (whether that be because of every day life, or post surgery), every recommendation we make is based on one goal: helping your pet feel better.

The tricky part?

Unlike us, our pets can't tell us, "Hey... I think this medicine is working!" or "I'm still not feeling great."

That's where you come in.

You're the one who knows your pet best. You're the one who notices they're eating again, sleeping better, acting more like themselves... or maybe that they still seem uncomfortable.

If you're ever wondering whether a medication is working, **please call us.**

Sometimes the answer is giving it a little more time. Sometimes we adjust the dose. Sometimes we recommend trying something different. Every pet responds differently, and that's completely normal.

And one last tip: if your question is about a medication, a new symptom, or something that feels urgent, **give us a call!** Calling the clinic is the fastest way to get your concerns in front of one of our doctors so we can help you and your pet as quickly as possible.

🐾💕 **Waiting Room Besties: Maple & Ember** 💕🐾

Some friendships start in the most unexpected places... even the checkout line. 🥹

Maple came to see Dr. Lorenson after her family noticed she might have an ear infection. Once she was all fixed up and feeling much better, she made her way to checkout where she happened to run into Ember.

Now, Ember is practically a Wickford pro. She was here for her technician appointment, handled it like an absolute champ, and before either pup knew it, a few friendly sniffs turned into a full-on play session right in our lobby!

These are the moments that make us smile.

Whether it's getting fixed up by their favorite doctor, sneaking in a cuddle with a favorite technician, or making a waiting room bestie, these are the experiences we hope every pet has when they visit Wickford Vet Clinic.

🎆 Feel Good Friday Announcement-- but Independence day Edition ❤️

As we head into a weekend filled with backyard barbecues, beach days, fireworks, and time spent with family and friends, we want to take a moment to say **thank you**.

Thank you for trusting us with your pets, for sharing your stories with us, and for allowing us to be a part of so many wagging tails, happy purrs, and healthy lives. Your support means the world to our entire team.

Before we send everyone off to enjoy the holiday, we have one quick scheduling reminder:

🗓️ **Friday, July 3:** We will be **closing at 12:00 PM** so our team can enjoy a well-deserved holiday break with their families.

**Saturday, July 4:** **Closed** in observance of Independence Day.

🐾 We'll be back and ready to see all of our wonderful patients on **Monday, July 6**, With our normal business hours.
